Luau Week - Was another great week in Junior Camp. There were grass skirts and leis, limbo dancing, hula dress up relay, and pin the coconut on the tree. Finally on Thursday, we were entertained by real Hawaiian Luau dancers. The dancers taught junior campers how to hula and what all the colors of the leis mean.

Middle and Senior Campers had a frisbee workshop this week. Spinning Bees, Gary Auerbach, came to Tall Pines to help campers develop their frisbee skills. Gary showed the campers all his frisbee collection which was quite extensive. In addtion, Gary demonstrated the various frisbee techniques they can use at their next game. Finally campers were able to particiate in a frisbee relay. All in all campers were intrigued and walked away with some new skills.

Counselors in Training
CITs enjoyed a great trip to Wildwood this week and with the heat wave it was the place to be. The weather was cooler and the boardwalk exciting. Don't forget they had time to cool off in the splash park. It has been a good year in the CIT program. The campers are working hard and learning how to be good counselors. |

Alex's Lemonade Stand - Swim-a-thon
On Thursday, Tall Pines Day Camp held thier yearly Swim-a-thon supporting Alex's Lemonade Stand. Every year Tall Pines steps up for a worthy cause and this year we are celebrating our 4th year with Alex's Lemonade Stand. Last year we were voted in the top 100 contributers in the South Jersey region. This of course could not have happened without the strong support of our Tall Pines Families and the hard work from your children. Last year we collected over $4000.
When you receive your childs lap counts, please return your donation in the envelope provided to the office. Thanks again for your support!
King Neptune Day
Let the challenge begin.....It was a grueling week of hula contestants. Everyday it was a new challenge to see how we could find a worthy King and Queen. Contestants were asked to hula with blind folds and hula skirts but they prevailed. On Friday our guest of honor Ariel from "under the sea" came to crown the new king and queen of Neptune Day. In conclusion, the royal couple declared instructional swim canceled and the whole day was filled with fun activities in the pool.
World Cup Soccer
World cup soccer came to Tall Pines this year to coordinate with the exciting real world cup going on earlier this year. There were many exciting matches but here are the prevailing winners:
14B - Gold 12G - Gold SCW - Gold 18B - Gold
13B - Silver 11G - Silver SCG - Silver VC - Silver
Tie Dye Week
Tie dye week is coming week 6. However, we need to get ready during week 5. So we are asking parents to start sending in shirts labeled with their childs name and bunk number during week 5. Our new tie dye system requires we soak items over night, so the sooner the items are in and marked the sooner we will be ready for tie dying on week 6. PLEASE BE ADVISED WE CAN ONLY TIE DYE ONE ITEM. |
