Huckleberry Resources
November 2010
Welcome to Huckleberry Resources

Greetings!

November is turning out to be a challenging month. Balancing several client projects, the upcoming holidays and of course, managing my own business operations leaves little time for relaxing. Can't complain though! Business is good!

How do you deal with stress? I welcome your comments either via email or on the Huckleberry Resources Facebook fan page. (Say that three times fast!)

As always, I hope you find this issue entertaining and informational. Your comments and questions are always appreciated and please pass it along to family and friends.

Best wishes for a great Thanksgiving!

Website Makeover: before & after

In business just over a year, AV Awakenings specializes in audio, video and control systems for homes. Realizing that their website could use some punch, and knowing that they had a good start, they tasked me with making their website more informational, expanding their number of pages and giving it that punch it needed. (No one was hurt in the making or viewing of this website.)

The start was good: a gallery of images, about us, newsletter sign up, an FAQ page and a way to contact the company.

Before
By adding a blue background, white header bar and enlarging the logo, it is much more visible on the page. Adding a call to action and phone number at the top makes it easy for folks to pick up the phone. A secondary navigation down the left was added to separate the categories of products/services from the about, contact, FAQ, gallery, etc.

Of course the use of photos and engaging copy keeps it interesting with special consideration given to search engine optimization by using keywords in the copy throughout the site.

The Tipping Point - A great library find

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make A Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell was a book that I just picked up at the library on a whim and it turned out to be a very interesting read. From disease spread to crime rates to Hush Puppy shoes each example had its own momentum until something tips it over to epidemic. Not at all what I expected, it took stories from across different themes and explained what the tipping point was in each instance. Read more here.
