Welcome to Huckleberry Resources
Greetings!
How are things with you? I am in the midst of projects! Client projects, home projects and community service projects! I have been helping several small businesses, some new and some old, with their marketing over the summer. I hope you enjoy reading about what small steps business owners can take to reach out to their customers. As always, I hope you find this issue entertaining and informational. Your comments and questions are always appreciated and please pass it along to family and friends. Best wishes! |

Websites: Getting Better Results Project Profile: Admissions Performance Partners
Your website is one (if not THE one) biggest marketing tool you have. Treat it like it is a storefront, it could be your first impression. Bruce and Doug were referred to me because they were having a heckava time getting their website launched. I knew what they were going through, I have been there! They were overwhelmed with domains, URL, DNS, ISP, hosting, and a slew of terms that were confusing at best. They had also purchased a "website design package" from an internet provider who we'll just call DoGabby. They also had a designer and a programmer work on their project. A 5-page website with nothing fancy, but it still wasn't working. I told them I would take a look at what they had and I found: - Their designer wasn't a web-guy.
- Their programmer didn't put in any links.
- Their contact form was really confusing and not working.
- They had purchased too much from DoGabby.
- And someone forgot a page.
Within a week's time, we had most of the site up and running and a couple of days later everything was complete! Another problem I see frequently is having a buddy/neighbor/friend help out which often turns out to take longer than you expect and with marginal results. It is sometimes hard to find the right people, that can guide you
through the process of developing a website. Even internet how-tos are not much help and can
provide too technical of information for beginners. Thank you Bruce and Doug for your business! |
It's the little things.
Here are some quick things you can do to increase your visibility and reach out to your clients, even ones you haven't met yet.
Use the internet! Facebook is FREE, Twitter is FREE - start pages and accounts for your business. Update (or list) your business in Google Places (Maps). Update or list your business in Yahoo, Citysearch, Yelp, etc. Add photos to your listings. Add A COUPON to your listings. - Share your listings, coupons, etc
Start a Google AdWords campaign!- You can choose your budget.
- Before you start - make sure your website is up to par.
Use email! Offer a referral bonus! Call your existing clients!
You may have heard all these suggestions before, but sometimes we can use a reminder, a little kick, or some help getting started.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
