Thoughts on Forgiveness

Vaun Swanson Greetings!,

Have you ever met an older person whose best friend is a grudge? They can remember and experience the transgression against them just like it was yesterday, even though it may have occurred decades before. Why are some people able to forgive and move on while others harbor injustices for a lifetime? How is our body, our mind, and our spirit impacted when we are unable to forgive? Every major religion in the world stresses the importance of forgiveness and now experts from many disciplines are presenting compelling evidence of the personal and societal benefits of forgiveness as well. Join us this month as we delve into the topic of forgiveness by participating in our blog or attending a movie or workshop at Pomegranate Place.  Forgiveness is not an easy topic, but I believe the world will be a better place if we can all make some progress in this area of our lives.

April Cara Art This month we pay tribute to Shirin Ebadi. Born in Iran in 1947, Ebadi earned a law degree and became the first Iranian woman to serve as a judge. She was removed from her position as a judge following the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and was unable to practice law again until 1992. For her human rights advocacy, primarily for women and children, Ebadi was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2003. She was the first Iranian and the first Muslim woman to win the prize.

Call for Volunteers!
Writers, Editors and Photographers

Pomegranate Place is excited to use our blog as a way to support the women in our community and around the world with regular articles that give women the encouragement and tools to live their most authentic life. This year, we are focusing on Spiritual Recovery and Re-Discovery by writing about a related theme each month. In order to create a strong blog with a consistent point of view and look, we need regular contributors in the areas of writers, editors, and photographers; at this point, these positions are strictly volunteer.  Both men and women are invited to apply. You do not have to live in Denver to apply!   [ More ]

Please send your submissions to: cara@pomegranateplace.org  by May 1. The teams will be announced on May 15.
