Little Things That Make a Big Impact
Have you noticed that time seems to be speeding up?  Life is coming at us, full steam ahead.

Recently I signed on to do a consulting project.  Like many people, it now seems that I have too much to do and not enough time to do it.  That's a fallacy, of course.  We all have the same amount of time in a day, 1,440 minutes to be exact.

Years ago when I was promoting Brian Tracy, a leading authority on success, I learned a valuable lesson.  I learned that the few minutes spent writing down my daily to-do list, goals and intentions kept me organized and on track.  It's the little things that add up to big successes.

I see so many people spinning their wheels, not really going anywhere or getting much accomplished.  Well, other than adding to their already stress-filled life, that is.  Making a daily habit of spending a few of those 1,440 minutes planning your day/week/month/quarter increases productivity exponentially.  And you'll see stress levels drop, too.

Get Started Now

1.  Keep paper and pen handy wherever you are: Your bag or briefcase, next to your bed, in the bathroom(!).  Be prepared so that when something you need to do comes to mind, you'll have something to write on.

2.  First thing in the morning, make a list of all the things you need to do.  Even if it's on a piece of scrap paper, get it out of your head and onto paper.  Put these scraps in a folder to keep them organized.  Carry it with you wherever you go.

3.  Make a daily intention list.  What's the goal behind the goal?  What do you hope to achieve by doing these activities?  Intentions are the big picture, and the driving force behind what we're doing.

4.  Throughout the day, ask yourself, "What is the most valuable use of my time right now?"  Minimize time wasters and get moving on fulfilling your intentions.

5.  Keep your commitments.  If you tell someone you will do something, do it.  If you tend to forget, write it down.  An ancient Chinese proverb says, "The faintest ink is better than the best memory."  Your integrity is on the line.

Use these suggestions to help slow down the pace of your life and stay on track.  Little things, done consistently, add up to a big impact in terms of your health, happiness, and productivity.
