a little art, a little craft ...

Hi there, creative type!

Paper, fabric, wood, paint, interfacings...surfaces are the spice of life, aren't they? I love working with all kinds of different substrates and textures, different colors and patterns. I encourage you to do the same - try anything once...twice if you like it! Here are some quick and easy projects I designed for you to try.

Stain it and stamp it
shell box

Make a plain wooden box more elegant with spray ink and your favorite stamps.
  1. Pour ink into a dish and paint box and lid (inside and out) using a spong brush; allow to dry
  2. Use a solvent ink pad to stamp desired images on sides
  3. Accent stamped images with a paint marker
  4. Accent lid with gold leafing pen
  5. Punch out desired paper to fit in debossed areas of lid
  6. Brush Liquid Laminate into lid, position papers, then brush more laminate on top of paper; use a straight pin to remove any bubbles
  7. Adhere decorative embellishments to lid with craft glue
Paint it and burn it painted quilt block

Use a quilt block as inspiration for a mixed media piece!
