a little art, a little craft ...

Hi there, creative type!

Running a little late getting this issue out (pant, pant) - but I hope you like it! I just got my Ranger order in - several great colors of alcohol inks, some Idea-ology embellies, UTEE, and lots more! Email me with your order, or let me know if you have any questions about any of the products and how to use them.

I'm on the hunt for new artists and crafters to feature...if you have something creative to share, please let me know!

Layering Lutradur & Timtex
blank board book
Rebekah Meier authored a wonderful book called Fabric Art Collage. She inspired me to create this cover for an 8"x8" blank board book. I painted a mask on a square of Timtex and layered it with gold foil and Lutradur, then embellished it with texture gel medium and Swarovski crystals.

Meet Ann Butler иииAnn Butler
Ann is a mixed media artist, a demonstrator, a designer,  and an instructor in the craft industry. Her work can be seen in art & craft books, magazines, and trade shows. And this woman can work some magic with polymer clay!
LLL:  What are you totally into right now (art and craft)?
AB:  I love all forms of art, which is why I do mixed media.  I can use anything and everything in my art. Right now I totally love using Earth Safe Finishes on everything I do, because the colors are amazing and the coverage is wonderful. It goes on every surface; you can be your own chemist and create exactly what you need for each project.

LLL:  Where does your creative mojo come from...did you learn it or were you born with it?
AB:  I was definitely born with it, my dad was an incredible artist. I have been creating ever since I can remember. I always enjoyed making something from nothing as a child, making gifts for my family. I was also designing and sewing my own clothes as a tween.
LLL:  What is your most favorite project that you've designed?  AB:  Wow, that's a tough question, but there are a few that stand out. I have a recycled magazine purse that I did with magazine pages, Earth Safe Finishes, and jeans. I also have a very cool polymer clay quilt. I am working on a fabulous project for the Winter CHA Designer Global Display...which may be some of my best work yet!

LLL:  Is there an art or craft that you haven't tried yet, but want to learn?
AB:  Glass cutting and soldering. I have all the supplies, but just haven't had the time yet. There are some great glass pieces out there, and you can do so much with them, like jewelry pieces and Christmas ornaments.

LLL:  If someone from the show "Hoarders" called you for an interview...would you be surprised?
AB: Not at all! Creative types have too much stuff. I just got the studio of my dreams this past year and I still don't have room for all of my things. So now I'm going through everything and making art baskets to give away.

Thanks Ann!!  Be sure to visit her blog, Creativity Stirs the Soul.
Now go and create a little something, would ya?

Until next week...
