from Michael, Elaine & The Team: You may notice something
new about this edition of our newsletter: that it actually exists!
While we have long planned on reaching out to our friends and clients on
a regular basis, we're finally so full of news that we may burst. So
please enjoy the first of some randomly scheduled updates designed to
edify and entertain. You'll find some news about our latest venture,

Our New Recent Favorite Client (Besides You) Our Director of Marketing, Megan Upjohn, pledged her troth to Mr. K. Bradley Rogerson on April 16th, 2010. The event took place at the Bently Reserve in downtown S.F., a venue as elegant and stunning as the Bride. One hundred friends and family gathered to show their love for the couple and enjoy some of our showcase dishes.
Blueprint Studios provided their usual dazzling décor, with low, sexy lounge furniture, Got Light cast a romantic spell over the room, and Greenworks SF showed why they are among the City's top florists. Heather Elizabeth photographed the event, and as usual, captured it perfectly.
The entire evening was stylish, graceful, chic, funny and sweet. Just like Megan & Brad. We wish them a happy honeymoon and lifetime of happiness.

Homemade Aļoli We've served this Aļoli ever since our first event in 1996. It's simple, delicious and packed with flavor. It enhances any raw or cooked vegetable, and the classic platter often features hard-cooked eggs, some poached fish, and artichokes if they're in season. But our favorite is just . . . potatoes. You know, the small ones.
Recipe 8-10 garlic cloves, peeled
2 egg yolks, room temp
Salt and ground white pepper to taste
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
3/4 c. peanut oil
3/4 c. olive oil
-Puree garlic in food processor.
-Whisk egg yolks in small bowl until light and smooth
-Add pureed garlic to yolks in bowl
-Add salt, pepper, lemon juice and mustard and process to smooth paste
-While machine is running, pour peanut and olive oil slowly over mixture in steady stream, blending constantly
-Continue to blend until mixture is thick, shiny and firm
-Transfer to storage container and refrigerate until ready to use |
A Peer at the Year Through the Rearview Mirror We love our work, we love our clients, we love the challenges of running a business in our favorite City on earth. But we ain't gonna lie: we're not sad to put 2009 behind us. Since we started in 1996, we've survived good better times, hard times, dot com, not com, floods, locusts and two Bush Administrations. But it seems like just about every colleague, vendor, client and friend was pressed and stretched in new ways last year.
But we are nothing if not cockeyed optimists, and like everyone else, we took the opportunity to refine our operation, expand our influence, and see just what kind of lemonade we could make. We'll detail some of our responses, and the lasting positive outcomes, in future updates.
