Here at Tobacco Junction we have a passion for Premium Cigars, Pipes, tobacco's and all the accoutrements that go with that passion.

McGregor Citywide Garage Sale Saturday April 2
If you are into garage sales, the City of McGregor will host a citywide garage sale and people and businesses will have stuff out front that everyone will try to move...discontinued items, overstocked items, thing-a-ma-jigs, and whatever else they can think of to put out there...but you'll have to wait and see.
La Flor Dominicana Friday April 8th from 6pm-9pm
We will have Paul Costo here to Represent LaFlor and he will have some deals for us and intimate knowledge of these cigars that even I did not know...
Introducing TJ's Cigar Lounge POKER-PALOOZA May 21
Well, we decided to have a poker event...finally...this event will be coupled with a cigar event that we will put on "Just for our Customers". There will be grab bags available of all sorts of cigars, and yes there are too many to list, thank you...and the price will be fantastic...just for our customers. We will have hotdogs and snacks as well. Just a quick note...if you want extra chips for the poker game, just buy the grab bag and we will help you out...this event should be lots of fun!

CRIOLLO
� Origins date back to the time Columbus discovered the "New World".
� Traditionally used as filler and binder plant
� Grown under direct sunlight to amplify the variety and intensity of flavors.
� For generations, the Criollo plant produced 4 of the 5 leaves in a "Havana" cigar.
- (Corojo wrapper leaves are the 5th).
� Produces 6 to 7 pairs of leaves
� Ligero: leaves at the top of the plant are the strongest and fuller flavored, due to direct sunlight (Heavier Sun = Heavier Tobacco)
� Leaves toward the bottom of the plant are more subtle in flavor and strength
Seco: used as filler
Capote: used for binder
Volado: used as filler
Outside of Cuba [and the Criollo Varietal], tobacco plant leaves are generally classified, from top to bottom, as:

FDA plans on Premium Cigars
Grassroots effort needed now!
The threat of
FDA
control over the Premium Cigar Industry is heating up in Congress with a House Bill possible this week. There are many reasons why we don't want (or need) FDA Control. The most important reason is the FDA will have control over premium cigars.
The IPCPR has set up a Legislative Action Center ("LAC") with detailed info as well as an "engine" on their website to simplify the process for anyone to speak out against FDA Control of the Premium Cigar Industry. Accordingly, retailers, employees and all cigar lovers need to contact their federal legislators and join the IPCPR in creating a legal definition of premium cigars and get them exempted from FDA control.
The IPCPR LAC is simple to use. Just apply your zip code and it will identify your legislators. You can see it here:

The Texas Cigar Merchants Association supports this process and recommends that ALL Texas cigar merchants and their employees use the LAC to speak out. We also recommend that you encourage your customers to use the LAC to speak out as well.
Time is of the essence! Speak Out, or the alternative of FDA Control will destroy our ability to smoke cigars, or even purchase them.

Pipe Corner
Just a quick thought...
Cigar smoking and pipe smoking have several things in common, and not in common. Pipe smoking is more about the ritual, coupled with the enjoyment. We hope to bring just a few hints about how to enjoy a pipe here.
I thought I might post a few comments from others that may help us understand the differences in opinion when it comes to pipe smoking...if you want me to post your thoughts just send me an e-mail...thanks!
Smoking my pipe is always a special occasion and I smoke my pipe daily; however, there are some requirements to keep the pleasures of pipesmoking within your grasp.
1. NEVER oversmoke your pipe, for it would become sour, a pipe needs to "rest" to provide you with a perfect smoke everytime. ROTATE your pipes.
2. ALWAYS clean the pipe after EVERY smoke and replace the filter. Dirty or clogged filters spoil the pleasant flavour and aroma of the tobacco. What use is it then to buy the perfect tobacco blend and smoke it through a dirty pipe with a foul, old tobacco taste still lingering in the pipe?
3. Follow your instincts when choosing a tobacco blend. Only you know what tastes or aromas you prefer, pipe smoking isn't like cigarette smoking, its an individual art or tradition, and you will strive to perfect this art until the day your pipe goes out for the last time. Do research and experiment, be patient for this takes time, and ALWAYS respect your pipe, love it, and handle it with care!

CIGAR LOCKERS NOW AVAILABLE
Solid Spanish Cedar
We now have solid spanish cedar lockers for lease at the lounge. These have the same water source as the main cigar humidor and maintains a constant humidification level. Each locker has its own key and is 20 inches deep to accommodate larger items.
