As he sees the rising swell in front of him, he has a decision to make. Does he accept his fear and turn back, or does he summon his courage and get ready to make the ride of his life?
The water starts to rise beneath him and he begins to turn towards the shore. He instinctivley knows that this could be his best chance to take the ride of his dreams. But his heart is pounding in his chest and he knows that others have failed and come to grief upon the jagged rocks that lie below the surface.
The moment gets closer when he needs to make a decision. Does he allow fear to take hold and allow the opportunity to pass? Or should he turn his back on his fear, allow the wave to lift him and be courageous enought to trust that his skills, experience and guts will see him safely home.
He turns to face his fear and starts to move...
He feels the wave breathing down his neck but now it seems to be urging him on. "Go on..." it whispers through the spray. "You can do it....it's your destiny....".
And then he hears the scream inside his head as the wave begins to break.. "STOP! TURN BACK! YOU WILL PERISH IF YOU RISK THE WAVE!".
He hears the screams of his fears but feels the whisper of his courage.
And with determination, concentration and his intuition on high alert, he begins to move forward, gathering momentum. He stands up and knows that the fear has gone. Now the exhilaration of victory begins to burn inside. Courage has turned to certainty - he is going to make it! The whoosh of the wave now seems to be cheering him on. Urging him faster and further than he had ever travelled before.
