Greetings!

The end of 2009 is fast approaching.  One more month (that's just 31 days) and another year will have passed.  More time slipping by at a pace that seems to accelerate as we get older.

And time is everything.  It's the only universal law that is the same for every single life form on the planet.  Day is followed by night and followed by day.  This will be the same next year as it has been this year.  Every creature that walks, crawls, swims or flys will wake, sleep or simply exist within the cycle of day and night as this planet spins its never ending story.

So is it time to stop and take stock?   Why wait until new years eve when people make hasty new year resolutions?  Why not think now about unfulfilled ambitions, unexplored opportunities, and the whispers of the soul that yearns for purpose?

This week the second meeting of the Kindred Spirit took place and we discussed the challenges that face us when we do stop, take stock and perhaps realise that we need to make changes in our lives. More of this later but for now, this weeks newsletter is about slowing down, thinking about the future but most of all realising that the present slips through your fingers if you are not living your life on purpose.

Living a life that feeds your soul and builds your spirit is hard.  The easy option is to drift along and just let life happen to you.  But one day you will look back and wonder what you did with your life.  And one of the saddest human experiences is to start wishing you'd done something different with your life when it's simply too late to change.

The past can't be changed.  The future can certainly be influenced.  But the decisions you make today, here in the present, are all that counts.

In love and life,

Paul

The Push
Eagle
The eagle gently coaxed her offspring toward the edge of the nest.

Her heart quivered with conflicting emotions as she felt their resistance to her persistent nudging.

"Why does the thrill of soaring have to begin
with the fear of falling?" she thought. This ageless question was still unanswered for her.

As in tradition of the species, her nest was located high on the shelf of a sheer rock face. Below there was nothing but air to support the wings of each child. "Is it possible that this time it will not work?" she thought.

Despite her fears, the eagle knew it was time, her parental
mission was all but complete. There remained one final task - THE
PUSH.

The eagle drew courage from an innate wisdom. Until her children discovered their wings, there was no purpose for their lives. Until they learned to soar, they would fail to understand the privilege it was to have been born an eagle. The push was the greatest gift she had to offer. It was her supreme act of love.

And so, one by one, she pushed them.... and they flew.

The Push - sometimes we need it. Some times we need to give it. It can be the greatest gift we ever give. It will change a life forever.

We discusssed the concept that the eagle flies downwards out of the nest before it opens it's wings and flies. But the mother eagle knew that the baby eagles would open their wings.  She trusted.

And in life, it is the same for each of us.  It is often during the moments when we feel we are falling, that we discover our innermost strengths and our unique gifts.  Gifts that may have laid dormant until the moment that a financial crisis, a personal loss, or at change in employment status forces us to believe in our instincts and find a power that forces us to open our wings and fly.

And when we do, we will realise that the fall was the greatest gift of all.
Ready to Fly
Ready to flyOur discussion continued and we talked about ways of finding our true purpose in life.

So why is it so hard to unleash the power that lies dormant within us?

There are so many distractions and social pressures, that it is understandable that following our life's purpose is often placed behind the need to provide for our families and meet our obligations;  Well meaning relatives may discourage us from taking the risk that often comes with taking the first steps towards unfulfilled ambitions; Financial commitments that need to be met, also prevent us from taking steps towards building a life around what we love to do.

So how can we ever make progress?

Sometimes its a slow building frustration that finally builds to a point where something has to change.  And we take that first step.

Often it's a life changing event that forces us to re-evaluate our priorities and recognise that our time is limited. And we make that move.

And occasionally it's a coincidence, a synchronicity or our intuition that leads us to meet someone, hear something, visit a place or see something that leads us naturally to a new way of life.

But most of all....it's a decision

All that you need to fulfill your dreams and your purpose in life is already contained within you, programmed into your life, like a microchip in your brain.  If you slow down and listen to your heart, you know what it is that you were born to do.  But you have to listen to your intuition before your logic.  And then let your logic help you find a way to put into place some small steps that will take you towards your life's purpose.  As soon as you take a small step, the universe will respond.  And then you take another, and it will respond again. And again.  And again.

So you don't need to wait for the life changing moments, or for the personal crisis.  You just decide.

And when you do, you'll find that you always had wings, and now, just like the Eagle, you are ready to fly.

Act on Your Inspiration

Regardless of how absurd your inner callings might seem, they're authentically yours.  They don't have to make sense to anyone else.  The willingness to listen and act on your inspiration, independent of the opinions of other, is imperative.

Selected from "Inspiration" by Dr Wayne W. Dyer.
Books that Inspire Me
The Compass
A enthralling novel about the journey of life. The Compass focuses on the individual journey, as seen through the lead character Jonathan's eyes and walk in life.

Jonathan's family has been torn apart following a horrific car accident and he is numb to everything around him. Unable to continue life as normal, he sets of on a journey -- a journey that places him alone in a desert, trekking through the wilderness. As Jonathan embarks on his journey, he meets many people; each person has a reason for being there.

Each pivotal person represents a specific element of life: love, forgiveness, prophecy. This is the way that life is. Reading this book, the reader is taken on the same journey, and taught how to understand what is happening in life, as they are led towards an internal excavation of their soul. Illustrating key principles taught by leading life experts, The Compass will help to give people direction in their lives.

Mystical Moments

RochelleTwenty people talking about life and how we can each find our way of fulfilling our spiritual needs.  No fluffy or "way out" (well, not much...), rose tinted spectacles views here - just a deep understanding that it's possible to follow your dreams AND survive in todays mainstream society.  No need to "drop out" to find your way - just a willingness to listen to others, enjoy their support and jointly try to encourage each other through the obstacles that life throws at us.

A mystical moment?  Definitely.

Synchronistic?  Perhaps.

But most importantly, it was simply an evening where the universe brought people together for reasons that may become clear in the months and years to come.
Footnote

Just a quick note of thanks to Damian Howell, Tony Guttman and Zoe Dent at Indigo River Creative for hosting the Kindred Spirit Network meeting.  The setting was perfect and their hospitality warm and genuine.

And a personal thankyou from me to all those that came along.  I hope you all got as much from the meeting as I did.
