Greetings!
It seems that a number of Kindred Spirits had a tough week. It was almost as if a number of us (me included) were having difficulties at the same time and when I spoke to a number of people, some of the difficulties were similar too. So this got me thinking (which you know I like to do).
If a number of us were struggling this week, by the laws of the universe, a number of us must have been having a great week. For each of us that struggled, there will have been an equal number of people that have succeeded. In fact, as progress can only be made by people succeeding, it is likely that more people had a good week, than those that struggled.
So is there a lesson in this? I believe there is.
When we are experiencing a tough period in our lives, we can become blinkered to the outside world and not notice that others are having a great time and achieving their goals. We become obsessed with our own issues and we miss the opportunity to congratulate our family, friends and associates who may be looking to celebrate their success with us. Our focus on the darkness of our world, shuts us off from the light we can share in the world of another. But in their light, is encouragement for us. In sharing their success, we open our minds to success in our own lives.
So I know that a number of us have struggled with business, relationships and life this week. But let all of us that have encountered such difficulties know that amongst us are those that have made spectacular progress towards their dreams. We should celebrate our progress together just as we should share our tough times together. This is what being a Kindred Spirit is all about.
I hope this weeks newsletter helps you recognise the progress that is happening all around you and encourages you to push through the difficulties that each of us will face from time to time.
In love and life,
Paul

Open the shutters

"When the shutters are closed, the sunlight cannot come in".
When we open the shutters to let light into a room, the whole room becomes visible. With the shutters closed, we stumble around in the darkness, slowly feeling our way.
Life can be like this.
In business, if we shut off our minds to new possibilities, and new ways of doing things, we risk stumbling in the darkness that is our ego and unwillingness to discover new opportunities.
In our personal lives, if we shut off our hearts and minds to those that offer to help us because we feel we already know all there is to know, we risk falling into the dark trap of missed wisdom and learning.
And in our spiritual lives, if we shut off our minds to the possibility that we can tap into an energy that connects us, we risk missing the coincidences and synchronicity that surround us.
But if we open the shutters that protect our hearts and minds, and let the light of new possibility, wisdom, learning, coincidence and synchronicity to fill our lives, we have a much greater chance of success than if we we keep the shutters closed and stumble around in the limiting darkness of our own ego, knowledge and experience.
We all know that being open is the way to grow but we still have days, months, and years when we hold onto our view of the world and what is the "right way" to be successful, happy and content. But there is always more to learn, discover and enjoy within the light of openness.
So open your shutters. And be open to the light of knowledge, possibility and synchronicity that exists everywhere and anywhere in your world. You'll be glad you did.

Knowing

Whilst considering what to write about this week, I decided to order a film. Flipping through the selection on Virgin Media, I settled quickly onto a recent film called "Knowing". I wasn't sure why it appealed but I punched in my pin and the film started. Within a few scenes, the main character is asking the question "is everything random or is each event in our lives a sequence that has been predetermined by a higher force?"
The movie is as fabulous as it is far fetched and I won't spoil the story. However, of all the films I could have chosen to watch (and there were hundreds to choose from), I selected one, fairly randomly that proposed an alternative view of synchronicity and coincidence in our lives. Is that a coincidence in itself? Maybe.
However, it encourages me to continue to suggest that we look beyond the immediate; that we seek a deeper appreciation of the events that surround us; that we consider that fate and destiny are not just the stuff of movies and stories.
It is clear that our thoughts and actions control our direction. However, as each of us are also connected with others, it is not possible to direct our lives believing that we alone decide our destiny. Destiny is defined as "a predetermined course of events considered as something beyond human power or control." Direction is defined as "a course or area of development; a tendency toward a particular end or goal".
So our direction is clearly within our control. But our destiny? Well, you decide....

Associate with the Inspired and the Inspiring
Choose to associate with people who live their lives, for the most part, in-spirit. But first you need to identify those who are inspired and inspiring - individuals who've risen above their ego's and the vanities of the world. Randomly selected from "Inspiration" by Dr Wayne W. Dyer.

Books that Inspire Me

This is a simplistic parable that contains inspirational advice for better
living. When a wheelchair-bound preacher in Central Park, New York shouts "Do it
now! You! You! Do it now!" to retired booking agent Bart Manning during
his morning jog, Manning finds himself inexplicably compelled to run
toward his long-abandoned office near Times Square. There, Manning,
once an exclusive agent for many of the world's top motivational
speakers, decides to come out of retirement. In search of new talent to
represent, he and his wife, Mary, attend a speaker's convention in
Washington, D.C., where they are enraptured by 32-year-old Patrick
Donne and his speech outlining steps to living a happier and more
productive life. Soon after he begins to represent this "spellbinder,"
Manning realizes that this man may be more than
just an exceptional speaker...
I bought this book many years ago and have long since given away my copy. Looking back now, it introduced me to intuition and coincidence long before I was aware of their importance. It also inspired me to speak in public and it's poignant ending, lifted my spirits.
Note: You can click on the image above to take you to Amazon if you are looking to order the book

Just email me with details of the
book that has inspired you and I'll let the rest of the readers know
about the book in a future newsletter and set up a link to Amazon.

Mystical Moments
I wasn't really sure why I was going but I knew I had to take my Kindred Spirit friend along as something told me it was important for her.
Then as we were waiting for the event to start, she confessed she needed more business and was quite specific - "2 or 3 more clients right now would be great".
The event starts and it soon became clear why we were there. In the room were 2 or 3 ideal potential clients for the Kindred Spirit. Contacts were made and appointments confirmed. No guarantee that business will come but... it will.
So why did I go along? Simply to help another.
How did I know we should attend? I simply listened to my intuition.
So why don't you try it too?
