55th Distinguished Young Women National Finals

David TurnerA message from the Board President
For the past 6 ½ years, the Board of Directors has been happy to have Becky Jo Peterson as the Executive Director of our program.  As most of you know, Becky Jo left her family and job in Napa, California to come to Mobile in December of 2005, right after the Board voted to continue the America's Junior Miss program.  Becky Jo worked with the Board to rebuild the program and she was instrumental in our rebranding process, which resulted in the new identify and refined mission of Distinguished Young Women.  Becky Jo will be leaving Distinguished Young Women after national finals this year to return to her family in California.  We will miss her, but the Board has a succession plan in place including a nation-wide search for a replacement and an excellent person to serve as Interim Executive Director should that become necessary.  As Board President, I can assure you that we will make sure there is continuous leadership for the organization and we will work with Becky Jo to create a smooth transition to the new Executive Director.

If you are interested in applying for this position, which requires that you live in Mobile, please send your resume and cover letter to the Search Committee at search@distinguishedyw.org.  We have posted a copy of the position description at www.DistinguishedYW.org under "news."

Please join us as we celebrate the 55th National Finals of Distinguished Young Women and the farewell party to Becky Jo on Saturday, June 30, immediately following national finals, at the Bienville Club in Mobile.  Don't forget to follow along on our website, on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook to keep up with your favorite Distinguished Young Women.
Sincerely,
David Turner, Board President
