SNEAK PEAK: 54th Distinguished Young Women National Finals National Finals 2010

New Choreographers, Judges, Sponsors and more!

As June quickly approaches, National Headquarters is busy preparing for the 54th Distinguished Young Women National Finals. In addition to an outstanding class of Distinguished Young Women for 2011, we are looking forward to welcoming two new additions to the National Finals production team this year.

Casey NoblettCasey Noblett, a former North Carolina's Junior Miss as well as 2nd-runner up to America's Junior Miss in 1997, has been involved in the Distinguished Young Women program since she could walk. Her parents served as judges and production managers and her mother was a choreographer for a local program.  She has served as the choreographer for North Carolina's Junior Miss and Georgia's Junior Miss. Casey is an interim choreographer for the Atlanta Hawks Dance Team, Atlanta Dance Theatre, Atlanta Workshop Players, and the Gainesville Ballet. She is the owner and director of N-House Productions and lives in Atlanta with her husband Dan and two girls Ava-Marie and Senzie.

His father served as a local chairman, on the state committee, and state chairman in 1992 for North Carolina. He is the Associate Director/Performer with Atlanta Dance Theater, Faculty member/Guest Artist with Roswell Dance Theatre, and staff member with N-House Productions under the leadership of Casey Noblett.

Third annual National Be Your Best Self Week celebrated across the country

View photos and video from National Be Your Best Self Week on Facebook!

This week, April 25-29, marked the third annual National Be Your Best Self Week. Distinguished Young Women dispatched many of the nation's best and brightest young women to Boys & Girls Clubs and other organizations nationwide to share messages of positive self esteem and personal development.

Madison Leonard - National Be Your Best Self Week
Madison Leonard, Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2010, visited the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu Teen Center this week to talk to the teens about the Be Your Best Self program.

Program participants talked to young people about being physically fit and drug free, serving their communities, staying in school, setting and achieving goals, and living by moral and ethical principles. Each participant used their own talents and life experiences to present the message through creative and fun methods that engaged the young people they met.

Young people who agreed to accept the Be Your Best Self challenge completed pledge cards as a personal commitment to be healthy, studious, involved, ambitious, and responsible. Madison Leonard, Distinguished Young Woman of America for 2010, also participated in National Be Your Best Self Week when she visited the Boys & Girls Club Malibu Teen Center in California. Leonard is a freshman at Pepperdine University.

New this year for National Be Your Best Self Week is the addition of the Distinguished Outreach Award. Any 2011 program year participant (local, at-large and state level; does not include state winners) who made a National Be Your Best Self Week presentation and submits the required materials is eligible for a $500 cash scholarship we will award at National Finals in June. More than $100,00 dollars raised through 7th on the Hill & Rock the Rock the RunwayRunway

March 30 marked the third annual 7th on the Hill Fashion Event and the second annual Father-Daughter Rock the Runway Fashion Event. Thanks to a dedicated committee and our two presenting sponsors, we were able to raise more than $100,000 for Distinguished Young Women!

IP Casino Resort and Spa (www.ipbiloxi.com), partnering with The Bacot McCarty Foundation (www.bacotmccarty.org), contributed $50,000 to underwrite the event expenses. Every penny raised through ticket sales, auction items, and donations will go toward continuing the mission of Distinguished Young Women. We are truly grateful to our sponsors and the dedicated committee members and volunteers that made this event a success.
