KUDOS!
Many Kudos to junior Darsani Reddy who has met the exam score requirements of the Fall 2011 PSAT to enter the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. Darsani is "among the 50,000 high-scoring participants of some 1.5 million program entrants". Of these 50,000 high scoring students approximately 16,000 will be named semi-finalists next September and the remaining will be named National Merit Commended Students. Any designation in the National Merit Scholarship Program is prestigious. Let's congratulate Darsani and wish her luck in the continuing competition!

Pen Pals in China!
Rivermont's Chinese II students now have very special pen pals in Wuhan, China. Not only has Rivermont Collegiate graduated three international students from Wuhan (Bing Dong 2001, Xiao Lei He 2000 , and Yi Liu 2000) but graduate Meghan Showers, 2007, arranged the pen pals for them. Meghan, after completing a double major in Political Science-American political institutions and East Asian Studies with a Chinese language minor at Augustana College, Rock Island, is now in Wuhan teaching English to 130 students at Central China Normal University, or CCNU. Meghan plans to return to the U.S. next year. She is currently studying for the Custom Broker Exam and planning to work in import-export.
Chinese students will be communicating via email in both English and in Chinese character.
