Are you counting the days?
Dear Rivermont Community,
Three weeks remain in our 127th year and the pace is quickening. Keep your calendar updated because this is a busy place!
Although past, this year's auction was a marvelous success. The numbers are not all in but I dare say The Chronicles of Rivermont will be one for the books. Special thanks again to Cristy Tackett-Hunt and her many generous volunteers for creating a magical evening for Rivermont.
Yesterday evening, we were treated to an excellent program put on by our band, strings, and choir students. Under the direction of Phyllis Miller, Virginia Ewoldt, and Sally Schulz, our musicians showed their skill and growth in musicianship but most especially, showed us the joy and excitement of a job well done!
Today is the final class day for our seniors before they set off to their Senior Projects. Their final requirement before graduation will be a presentation of their project before the faculty. Today, however, will end with the Middle & Upper Schools Imp-Tiger competition and the distribution of this year's edition of The Wheel. Did you know that the School's yearbook has been called The Wheel since the beginning days? Generations of students have cherished this valuable memory.
Sunday, May 15th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. we will honor Marsha Field and Gwen Livingstone Pokora for 25 years of service to our School. Their talents have enriched us and maintained the essence of Rivermont. We are fortunate to have celebrated several 25th anniversaries and I am proud to congratulate and thank Mrs. Field and Mrs. Pokora for their contributions to the Rivermont Experience. Join us for this celebration in the Mansion!
Monday, May 16th, we will honor our Middle School Track team and Friday, May 20th a Trivia Night will be hosted to support our students representing Rivermont at the National History Day Competition in Washington, DC. This is the second year we have been represented and our first year presenting a research paper in addition to our always blockbuster historical performances.
Monday, May 23rd, the halls will be alive with music as we host our annual Solo & Ensemble Music Festival. Students will be judged using competition rubrics and have the opportunity to listen to a professional group perform. This is an important culmination of our musical performance program.
Upper School students will sit for final exams between May 26th and 31st.
