Happy Birthday Rivermont (SKS, SKSM)!

Dear Rivermont Community,gustavo romero

Today is Rivermont's birthday, we are 126!  With roots in Saint Katharine's School, an Episcopal boarding school for girls, we grew to become St. Katharine's-St. Mark's, an exceptional college preparatory school for boys and girls.  Today, as Rivermont Collegiate, we continue the tradition of excellence and character that our founders first envisioned.  More than 25,000 students have received an SKS, SKSM, Rivermont education with its particular flavor of intellect, character, and creativity.  All hail to the Red and White, to our colors we will always be true!

Once again, thank you to everyone who voted for Rivermontwe won in the RK Dixon Make My Non-Profit Run Better contest.  Our $5,000 prize will help us tremendously in enhancing the office's technology and providing greater efficiency.  We had parents, alums, and friends from all over the country voting for us.  Thanks for proving once again that at Rivermont we are all participants!

Wednesday, September 29, the students and faculty of Rivermont will receive a special treat.  The Bettendorf Family Foundation has arranged for pianist Gustavo Romero to give a concert to our students on the Bettendorf Baldwin Grand Piano in the Mansion.  Mr. Romero will be in the Quad Cities to perform at the Quad City Symphony season opener celebrating the 200th birthday of Chopin.  Mr. Romero will also conduct master classes at Augustana College and the University of Iowa.  We are honored to host Mr. Romero for this special engagement and are grateful to the Bettendorf Family Foundation for making this possible.

Please be sure to read the rest of our newsletter to learn about the many other events and projects taking place at Rivermont.

P2P AD-HD LogoParent to Parent: Family Training on AD/HD

Have you been searching for a reliable source of information about AD/HD and how to manage issues related to the disorder?  The ability of parents to help their children navigate hardships associated with AD/HD is STRONGLY linked to the parents' understanding of AD/HD.  Become an expert in the management of your child's AD/HD!

A multi-session, interactive, educational program for adults and parents of children and adolescents with AD/HD is being offered at the Bettendorf Public Library.  Topics include an overview of AD/HD, parenting strategies, positive behavior interventions, strengthening family relationships, and bridging the gap between home and school.  Classes are taught by teachers trained by CHADD - Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorders.
