Dear Rivermont Community,
One of our proud accomplishments at Rivermont is the 100%
acceptance of our senior class to 4-year colleges and universities. Our college counseling begins in the freshman
year, actually at the end of eighth grade, and continues through the senior year when applications are
submitted. In some cases, we continue
with contacts and clarification to the college admission officers. The time and care independent schools like
Rivermont place on the college counseling is beyond compare. Families would have to hire a private
consultant to receive comparable guidance and support. We are pleased to announce that the Class of 2010 has been
accepted at the following colleges and universities and have earned $766,464 in merit
scholarships.

their Senior Project. This
is an opportunity to become intensely involved in an activity or profession that
is of particular interest to the senior. This experience provides our students with valuable insights into
themselves as well as into the "real" world of business and service. Each senior will then make a presentation to the faculty and assembled guests on Friday, June 4 at 10:00 AM. This is their final requirement before receiving their diplomas at the 123rd Commencement Exercises that afternoon at 4:00 PM. Everyone in the Rivermont community is invited to participate in these important Rivermont "rites of passage."

Rivermont Trivia Night
Send our students to Washington, DC
Rivermont is sending two teams to
the National History Day competition in Washington D.C. in June. This is the first time since
2001 that Rivermont has represented the state of Iowa at this event. It is a great honor for
the students, and the two groups that are going worked very hard to win both the
Regional and State competitions. The History Day teams are holding a Trivia Night
fundraiser to help with some of the costs of the trip.

National Honor Society
Eyeglass Drive
In honor of healthy vision month,
National Honor Society is having an eyeglass drive! NHS is collecting any
prescription reading glasses and sunglasses (plastic and/or metal frames) that
are in good condition. NHS will donate the eyeglasses through the Lions Recycle
for Sight Program, and the glasses will be distributed to people in need and
in developing countries, where they will have a strong impact. In just about
any dresser drawer, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being
used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person's life! Eyeglasses can be dropped off to either Mrs. Marietta or Ms. Burrell at either
reception desk or delivered to an NHS member.
