Dear Rivermont Community,

The Quad Cities is fortunate to have many educational options for its children. Each option offers specific advantages.  Parochial and church schools provide a strong faith-based environment, public schools offer a broad-based program, while still other schools are influenced by a particular philosophy of learning.  Rivermont narrows the focus to provide a curriculum and school experience that prepares students to be successful in college while instilling a commitment to life-long learning in its students.

Rivermont looks to the research of professional educational organizations, the experiences of other independent schools across the country and the challenges faced within our local communities to guide its policies, curriculum and school life.  The measure of our effectiveness and responsiveness is evident in our 100% college acceptance rate, our first place ranking on the Iowa AP Index, our position in the Top 10% of schools in Iowa whose graduates earned the highest grades in the courses taken freshmen year of college, and our 100% rate of graduating seniors receiving 4-year renewable merit scholarships to college.  Each of these recognitions and accomplishments demonstrate the effectiveness of our curriculum, the wisdom of our policies and the expertise and professionalism of our faculty and staff.  The analysis conducted by the Des Moines Register concluded that "high school course rigor, not size, determines success of freshmen in universities."  In addition, the recognition that students who graduate from small schools are well prepared for college supports what small schools, like Rivermont, have long claimed.  Small schools can provide students with intense interactions, high participation, high expectations and frequent opportunities to develop interpersonal skills.  Rivermont continues to excel in these areas as evidenced by our alumni and by the recognition of outside sources.

We are proud to be vital participants in the lives of our students and active contributors to the Quad Cities.

Spring has arrived in the Quad Cities.  On campus, the lawns are greening, the senior fountain is bubbling, the daffodils are beginning to bloom and the leaves on the trees will pop open any day now.  We are fortunate to have a beautiful campus and it is particularly beautiful in spring.  Enjoy spring break next week.
