RIVERMONT COLLEGIATE 1821 Sunset Drive Bettendorf, IA 52722

Dear Rivermont Community,
Friday, March 26 is the final day to reserve a place for your child for 2010-11 before we open enrollments to the new families applying to Rivermont. To show you our appreciation for continuing to provide a Rivermont education for your child we are happy to discount the comprehensive fee by 50%. Please be sure to return your signed re-enrollment agreement and deposit before 4:00 PM on the 26th. Any places in a class that are still open after that time will be offered to new applicants who have been accepted by the Admissions Committee. We are delighted that we reached our class capacity in four grades this year and are equally excited by the tremendous interest in admission to Rivermont we have seen in these past months. We anticipate fully subscribed grades for 2010-11 with wait pools in some.
From the Did You Know file:
Grades 2-8 ITBS Composite scores rank in the 99th percentile when compared to schools across the nation.
72% of students in Grades 3-5 qualify for the Belin-Blank Center BESTS program at the University of Iowa.
Middle and Upper School students have each top place honors at the Iowa Science and Technology Fair for the past 5 years. Students have gone on to place in national and international competitions.
A senior was named a semifinalist in the prestigious Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology. Rivermont was the only school in Iowa to have a student named.
All students in the Upper School participate in the United Way Day of Caring.
All K-12 students participate in Rivermont's own community service day.
Students, parents, and staff give abundantly of their time, talent, and treasure to numerous philanthropic projects that benefit the Quad Cities, the Midwest, national and international groups. (Shoes that Fit, Partners in Education Haiti Project, Student Food Drive, Cafe on Vine)
Rivermont is Respect, Responsibility, Relationships, Resourcefulness.
Rick St. Laurent, Headmaster
P.S. Have you noticed the snowdrops are in full bloom along the drive to Mississippi Blvd. and the daffodils are beginning to make an appearance?

KUDOS
Intellect - Character - Creativity
Fifth
grader Gabi Schermer's love of animals made a difference in the lives of
several animals at the Humane Society. Gabi put out a jar in her fifth
grade classroom to collect spare change and donations for the animals.
Her classmates responded with enthusiasm to her project and with their support
and donations from parents, Gabi collected $45.00. She purchased food and
pet supplies that she delivered this week to the shelter. Gabi proves to
us that service doesn't have to be a large involved project but rather one
person with a desire to help can contact friends and improve the lives of
others. Way to go Gabi, one person
can make a difference!
Fourth Grader Sophia and First Grader Alexander Xiao, piano
students to Mrs. Roberta Quist of Davenport,
received Superior and 1 ratings at the Federated Music
Festival, following Sophia's Third
Place in the Baroque Music Festival. At the IMTA
(Iowa Music Teachers' Association) local audition, Sophia was a level -B
winner. She then went on to Waverly, Iowa to receive Honorable Mention for her
performance at the Iowa State IMTA audition last Saturday. Bravo Sophia! Bravo Alexander!
Mr. Leo McGarry, a member of North Scott Rotary
visited second grade on Monday to read the book Andy & Elmer's Apple Dumpling
Adventure. His visit was part of the Rotary's literacy project. The
club hopes to share this book with every second grade in the Quad Cities.
Through the main character, Andy, the book teaches students to make good
decisions. Andy uses a four-way test and applies the following questions to
make good choices. Of the things we think, say or do, Is it the truth? Is it
fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be
beneficial to all concerned? Second graders each received a book mark stating
these things and a copy of the book was donated to the classroom library.
Thanks to Mr. McGarry and the North Scott Rotary Club. The Rotary 4-way test is a good test for all of us to consider.
Kudos to all our K-5 students for presenting a funny and entertaining music program last night. Thanks to all our Lower School teachers who provided the support assistance. And special thanks to Sally Schulz, our music teacher, for directing a great music performance. Bravo and Kudos, now pass the Brussel sprouts!

Tuition Assistance
Rivermont's tuition assistance program is designed to help the School enroll an academically talented and socially and economically diverse student body. The School commits a percentage of its operating budget to need-based tuition assistance along with endowed funds donated to support the School's economic diversity.
Kindergarten through Grade 12 families interested in applying for tuition assistance are directed to the School's website where the procedure is outlined and links to the necessary forms can be found. Rivermont enlists the services of School & Student Service by NAIS to calculate a family's estimated contribution to tuition. This calculation and the resources available at Rivermont are then considered by the Tuition Assistance Committee in recommending or denying a grant. Interested families should begin the process immediately as funds are limited.
Feel free to contact Business Manager, Jenny Nicol for additional information. nicol@rvmt.org or (563) 359-1355, ext. 315.
