RIVERMONT COLLEGIATE 1821 Sunset Drive Bettendorf, IA 52722

Dear Rivermont Community,
Rivermont has been working with a new student information system that integrates biographical, academic, and attendance records in one system. This is streamlining our recordkeeping and reducing errors. We are still adjusting to the new system and learning how it works (and how to make it work for us.) You will see the first example today as a new report card format is introduced. Additional components will be introduced in the future. One slight hiccup is that we are not able to format paragraphs nor underline book titles. We are working with the programmer to correct these problems however this will not be completed in time for our first printing. Please overlook these errors.
Special thanks to the Parents' Council for their generous grant that made the new software affordable for the School.
Rick St. Laurent Headmaster
P.S. There will not be an issue of HEADlines on October 23 due to Parent-Teacher Conferences. The next issue will be October 30.

H1N1 Reminder
Prevent the spread of the virus - Stay home if you are ill.
The H1N1 virus has hit the Quad Cities and we are seeing a increase in student absence due to flu symptoms. We should all do our part to help prevent the spread of the virus.
1. Please
remember to wash hands frequently and thoroughly, especially after you cough or
sneeze.
2. When
coughing or sneezing, please cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve. Throw the tissue in the trash after you
use it.
3. Please stay home from work, and keep your
children home from school when you or they are sick. Children with flu symptoms (a fever, accompanied with a cough or sore throat) need to remain home for at least 24 hours after they
no longer have a fever, or signs of a fever, without the use of fever-reducing
medicines.
At Rivermont:
School staff routinely cleans areas that students and staff touch often
with cleaners on the EPA list of approved disinfectants effective against influenza A.
Students and staff who appear to have flu-like illness will be sent to a room
separate from others until they can be sent home.
Rivermont will host a clinic to offer the H1N1 vaccine in accordance with the
guidelines set forth by the CDC and the Scott County Department of Health.
We anticipate receiving notification from the Health Department in the near
future.
Rivermont will also host a clinic through Genesis to provide free seasonal flu
vaccines to K-5 students. The date will be set when additional vaccine is
available.

Stay
Healthy!

| Fall BookFair - Coming SOON!
Destination Reading - One For Books
Help Rivermont make a difference in our community by helping to make
Scholastic's One for Books program a success. Every dollar we raise stays at Rivermont and is used to purchase books for our library. The more we
raise, the more we help a worthwhile national charity like Toys for Tots
make a difference for those less fortunate. Last year we raised over
$1,800. This year we hope to raise even more. Happy Joe's has again sponsored
this program and together we can make a difference. One for Books runs October
1st - 23rd.
Mark your calendars. The BookFair is NEXT WEEK, October 20th - 23rd in Becherer Hall. Please volunteer to work the
fair. We are only having one book fair this year, so let's make this the best
fair ever. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Lynn McLaughlin, or
Katie Franks. |
