Kids'  and Teen Activities - Summer, 2011

 

 

At the Bedford Free Public Library 

  • Creature Teachers - Monday, July 25 from 7 to 8 pm for kids entering 1st through 5th grade. Meet small animals from Australia in person at the library's special live animal show by Creature Teachers of Littleton. 
  • Hugh Hanley's Circle of Songs - Thursday, August 4 from 10:30 to 11:30 am for youngsters through age 6. At the first strum of his banjo, young children and their families will be transported into Hugh's world of traditional tunes, fingerplays and musical activities. He's well-known and well-loved in the Boston area.
  • Story and Craft Club - Tuesdays, July 5, 12,19 and 26 from 3:30 to 4:15 pm for kids entering Kindergarten to 4th grade. Stories and crafts from around the world; bring your imagination!   
  • LEGO Challenge - Wednesdays, July 13, 20 and 27 and August 2, 10 and 17 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm for kids entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. The library has *skillions* of Legos, and a different theme each week. Build to the theme, or design your own project; either way, your work will be on display for the following week.   
  • Stories on the Lawn - Wednesdays, July 6 through August 24, from 10:30 to 11 am; for youngsters through age 6 and their families.Gather on the big parachute under the tree on the high school side of the library for stories, songs and fun.    
  • Sing-along with Children's Librarian Sharon McDonald - Tuesdays, August 2, 9 and 16 from 7 to 7:45 pm. World songs, silly songs, movie songs, and camp songs - you'll know most of these, so the whole family can join in. Sharon will have her guitar polished and ready! Bring pa, ma, sisters, brothers, and friends!     
  • Teen Movie Night -  Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. A Wednesday evening movie night for teens will feature Lemonade Mouth (July 6); Never Say Never (July 13); I Am Number Four (July 20) and Rango (July 27).

Mid-week Mornings at Boarding House Park, Lowell 

All shows are FREE and each will include make-and-take art, with natural and organic snacks (10 am); a performance (11 am) and free National Trolley Park rides (noon).

In case of inclement (or too hot) weather, a detailed message will be posted by 9:30 am on the day of the show on the website noted below and on our info line 978-970-5200 . All programs will be relocated to the Cyrus Irish Auditorium at Lowell High School located diagonally across French Street from Boarding House Park.
