V-Day Bedford 2011 February 25 and 26 at 8 pm at First Church, Congregational, Bedford
Under the leadership of BCA board members Linda Christen and Kati Oates and Director Briget Scholnick, dozens of actors and volunteers are working to produce V-Day Bedford 2011 - The Vagina Monologues for two performance at Bedford's First Church, Congregational at 8 pm on Friday, February 25, and Saturday, February 26. Cast members include Carla Bradford, Cathy Mann, Charlotte Christen, Cheyenne Fox Tree McGrath, Claudia Fox Tree, Elisa Bucchianeri, Jan Shaw, Kate Mayhew, Kathy Sinclair, Kitty Picard, Liz Rodriguez, Sally Okoniewski, Sing Hanson and Vicki Righettini. Members of the cast have found some of the script an unusual challenge. Cast member Charlotte Christen described performing a speech that she initially found difficult. "Words lose their power once they lose their shock value," Christen said, "so I'm saying things I would never have said before and they'll never hurt me again." Hans Christen, Nathan Meyers and Scot Aurenz are in charge of the sound and lighting; Ronnie Gould is helping with set design; and Carlton SooHoo is the production's official photographer. Proceeds from the performance will benefit Boston Area Rape Crisis Center; The Center for Healing of Merrimac Valley/Lowell and the V-Day 2011 Spotlight on Haiti Campaign.
