Poetry Slam at First Parish

Poetry Slam contests offer an exciting way of performing one's own poems.

In a traditional slam, poems are presented in a dramatic fashion and memorized to garner more contest points, but in the Lyceum just reading your poem is acceptable -- the only rules are no poem can exceed three minutes and each must be written by its presenter. Young people (of any age!) are encouraged to participate.

A kinder, gentler slam will take place during a First Parish Lyceum presentation at 10:30 am on Sunday, April 11 in room 204 of the church.

If you are planning to perform click here to notify Mary Hyatt in advance, or call her at 978-807-2373.

To learn more about poetry slams, go to one of the rigorous poetry slams that take place each week at Cambridge's Cantab Lounge or view the film, SlamNation, which is available in Bedford through the Minuteman Library Network's interlibrary loan program.
