If you do nothing, you will get nothing. You have the option to make changes, attend conferences, pick up books and take advice from friends. You also have the option not to. This weekend, I was reminded how making the choice to do something can take you somewhere. I spent Halloween weekend at the Author 101 University Conference in Las Vegas. While I went to the conference to learn more about the tools and techniques of getting published and marketing books, I walked away with something much more valuable... relationships and connections. In two short days I was able to meet many people who will help me continue honing my skills as an author and who will also serve as my mentors throughout the rest of my career. I have often said that mentors are perhaps the greatest resource in developing your goals. This is one of the many reasons I went to the Author 101 University, so I could expand upon my collection of mentors, thereby increasing the resources for my knowledge bank.
