Hand-Tufted for Fall 2010
This fall Moattar, Ltd. introduces a new collection of hand-tufted rugs. Styles range from sleek and modern like the Griffith Park collection pictured to the right to traditional reproductions like our favorite Peshawar, shown as our featured rug to the left.
Hand-tufted rugs are made by pushing yarns through a primary backing and securing the yarns with a secondary foundation. The process is still done by hand but no knotting is involved making the production process much quicker. The result is a hand-made rug at a great price.

Iranian Import Embargo An embargo on Iranian Persian rugs will take effect in September as part of
recently passed sanctions against Iran. The last embargo lasted from 1987 - 2000 and had a dramatic effect on Persian rug prices. Fortunately Moattar, Ltd. has the largest selection of antique Persian rugs in the southeast. Stop in to see some of the most beautifully woven pieces of history.

Pakistan Relief
Pakistan has long been an exporter of beautiful handmade rugs
and many weaving communities have been adversely affected by the floods. The catastrophic
effects are far from determined but the United Nations has declared the
flooding, which is expected to worsen, already more severe than the Haiti
earthquake, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and the 2005 Kashmir earthquake
combined. Please join Moattar, Ltd. in contributing to the relief efforts by
donating to one of the networks below or your favorite international aid organization.
