Farmers may just be completing the 2009 harvest, but they should be
thinking about ordering supplies for 2010 if they haven't already done
so. This was shared with Southwest Landmark customers at Croplan's

Greetings!
Southwest Landmark has a rooted history in Ohio, and we want to continue to prosper as a successful cooperative in the future. Therefore, Southwest Landmark recently announced its intentions to merge with Advanced Agri-Solutions Cooperative. The boards of each cooperative voted unanimously to bring the merger to cooperative members for voting in January 2010. If approved, the merger would be effective September 1, 2010. Members will have an opportunity to vote in January on this very important issue.
This is an exciting time for Southwest Landmark. For more information on the potential merger, read our membership letter.Sincerely, Gordon Wallace, CEO |
Fueling the Cure During Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it marks the first month of a yearlong campaign during which three Ohio cooperatives will donate $1 from every propane delivery stop to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. Southwest Landmark, Heritage Cooperative and United Landmark will make the $1 per stop donation each time any truck in their fleet makes a delivery through September 30, 2010. The Fueling the Cure campaign features a fleet of propane trucks that will deliver fuel to cooperative customers throughout the region, along with four signature pink trucks. Each cooperative has pledged a minimum donation of $10,000 and is encouraging employees and customers to raise an additional $5,000. Georgetown Location Receives Grant to Improve Operations
Southwest Landmark was awarded a grant of $45,000 to improve its Georgetown grain handling facility by the Southern Ohio Agricultural and Community Development Foundation.
The funding will create new jobs and enhance overall business operations at the Southwest Landmark branch in Georgetown. The grant will not only benefit the Georgetown location, but will also benefit cooperative members in its seven county service area.
"This grant will help our region continue to grow as one of the premiere locations for grain transport," said branch manager Steve Johnson. "Southwest Landmark can provide better services for its members when we have the necessary equipment and employees to manage the incoming grain. The grant allows us to transition two part-time jobs into full-time positions and the creation of one additional full-time job within the next two years."
The funds received from the grant will allow Southwest Landmark to increase the speed that grain is distributed in and out of the facility and it will also improve grain receiving pits and conveyor belt. In addition, it will also reduce the amount of grain lost due to poor storage conditions and leakage.
