The Sun Shined Down on Us!
Sharon Anderson, Executive Director

What an incredible day in so many ways.  We had 1168 beautiful women from 115 different cities in Washington, 9 states and 2 countries all show up on a gorgeous Sunday morning to ride their bikes with friends, family, and co-workers! Many were there to challenge themselves on two wheels to go the distance.  Issaquah High School proved to be the perfect finish line party!  Live music by Lanford Black, fantastic food catered by local restaurants Tutta Bella and Flat Iron Grill, the sweet shop packed with yummy well earned treats from locally owned Ben & Jerry's, Boehms Candy and Amore Chocolate.  Our fantastic sponsors, such as REI, TAI & Veloce Velo welcomed the riders to educate and provide giveaways, and vendors with products only women love!  Not to mention that the day began and ended with Starbucks coffee - doesn't get much better than that!

Our Pedal Partner Giving Program exceeded expectations with a record breaking amount raised of over $53,000 and well over 200 volunteers of all ages turned out in support. The local high schools - Issaquah, Liberty, Eastside Catholic and Sammamish - were out in force encouraging riders all along the way.  Thank you Bellevue College and Peggy (Tutu gal who made riders smile before the on road photo) for taking such good care of us - everything from paving roads that were gnarly and unsafe to signs encouraging drivers to use alternate routes -the community truly came together!

Thank you for joining us to pedal for a cause and being a part of "Braking the Cycle!" we raised over $160,000 that will go directly to programs in communities across Washington State!  Ladies you all rock! And to all of our male supporters - we couldn't do it without you! To my executive team - thanks for your year-long (unpaid!) work on this project so we could send 100 percent of the net proceeds to families and survivors of domestic violence.

Special thank you to Ramblin Lamb Photography for coordinating the many photos taken that day by several talented individuals! Pictures really do tell the story. To view and purchase photos click here.

Thank you for riding,

Thank you for volunteering,

Thank you for supporting!
