In case you missed it, our last Practice Party was a grand evening of summer celebration: from great music to Hawaiian leis; from professionally sung Happy Birthday songs to a Showcase demonstration dance; from tiki torches to the Beach Boys! It seems every time we throw a themed Party, we attract some of the most fun-loving dancers in Orange County.

A quick note to mark your calendar for August 5th, the date of our next Friday night Practice Party. We're expecting a great turnout, especially following so closely on the heels of our fantastic show and in preparation for the Team Match (read on for all the details).

This edition of South Coast Dancesport's The Coaster hopes to find you enjoying your summer and looking forward to your next opportunity to see and participate in the vibrant dance scene here in southern California.
At the top of our list this month is our bi-annual Showcase, a World of Dance, choreographed by Ron Montez. Ron has been choreographing and directing the progress of the students and teachers at the studio for the last six months as they have been preparing for the show. Their work pays off as they hit the stage this Saturday, July 23rd. You can expect routines that represent various dance styles and locales the world over: from Samba and Swing to Waltz and Salsa, from Bollywood and New York to the Spanish highlands and the Old West. We are so excited about this Show that we have added a second performance in the afternoon to accommodate our typical high demand for tickets. So, the matinee performance begins at 4:30 p.m. and tickets are $20, while the evening curtain rises at 7:30 and tickets run $25. Please call Tera at the front desk to reserve your tickets today!

Because we always have an eye on the future, we are very pleased to announce that our next Showcase, South Coast Dancesport's Radio Hits!, will be choreographed by one of the most sought-after dancers in the nation: Jonathan Roberts.

Jonathan has been a professional dancer on several seasons of Dancing with the Stars, most memorably pairing with Marie Osmond a few years ago, as well as holding the title of World and United States Professional American Smooth Champion. To top it off, Jonathan happens to be truly world-class choreographer, participating in and choreographing for this season's So You Think You Can Dance. We may, in fact, have to compete with them for his time. But having been looking forward to working with our studio for a few years, Jonathan is committed to his participation in South Coast Dancesport's Radio Hits! Our next Show is scheduled for January 21st, 2012.
