Jigme Lingpa
1729-1798

Jigme Lingpa was a Tibetan  visionary,  poet, philosopher and meditation master. Through his visionary experience he revealed what became the most widespread Dzogchen lineage in Tibet, the  Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse.

Jigme Lingpa wrote: "Because there is birth from the birthless, living beings are confused."  His teachings open to dissolving that confusion, they help us towrd the clarity of wisdom infused with the warmth of compassion.

Join us for our Fall series as we delve into Jigme Lingpa's Treasury of Precious Qualities: A Commentary on the Root Text  which opens  the entire Buddhist path to liberation from suffering. Through it we will explore the causes of suffering and the cultivation, in daily meditations,  of the qualities which can transform that suffering.

Taught by Anne C. Klein PhD, and Harvey B.Aronson, PhD on the first and third Tuesday of the fall months.  One is welcome to attend one class or all.  Each class includes a period of meditation instruction and practice.  Classes begin at 7:pm.

Start With Your Body

A Forum with Phillip Moffit, Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Cyndi Lee & Reggie Ray
Introduction by Anne Klein

When we hear words like "meditation," "mindfulness," or "mind training," we often assume we're working with our minds alone. But nothing could be further from the way it really is. Meditation, mindfulness, and mind training are full-being enterprises. They involve our whole body and our body's energies, including how speech expresses those energies, and how mind rides on them. It's not surprising that we think about mind training in this way. Since Descartes, Western culture has articulated a chasmlike divide between mind and body, and an analogous one between reason and emotion. But emotions are experienced so strongly through the body that when we leave it out of our  meditation equation, we are likely to leave feelings aside as well. And when meditation does not encompass feelings, it is difficult for practice to reorient our lives as deeply as we intend it to do and need it to do.

 Extraordinary Conversations
Enlightening Relationships is the second annual conference in the series, Enlightening Conversations: Buddhism and Psychoanalysis, Meeting in Person.  While many conferences and books have explored the interface of Buddhism and psychoanalysis, Enlightening Conversations breaks new ground in bringing presenters and participants together to engage in impromptu conversations on the most challenging  issues of their disciplines. All this allows participants to open a fresh understanding of our most cherished and vulnerable relationships to each other, to ourselves, and to life itself.

Dawn Mountain Mission
The mission of Dawn Mountain is based on three pillars. First, as a Tibetan temple offering traditional Buddhist teachings tailored towards contemporary Americans. Second, as a community center providing service to those in need, but not limited to teaching a variety of techniques that promote physical and mental well-being independent of any religious orientation. And third, as a research institute to support research and translation of materials on Tibetan philosophy, ritual and culture.

DAWN MOUNTAIN is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization and depends on the generosity and support of its donors to continue the mission.
