CNN Education Contributor Steve Perry
has a New Weekly Series 'Perry's Principles'
One of America's most inspirational educators, Dr. Steve Perry,
brings fiery passion to CNN's AC360 in a new series entitled "Perry's
Principles." Dr. Perry will tackle education's most difficult issues every Thursday night on AC360.
Dr.
Perry is not afraid of controversy either. (link Randi Winegarten debate). He has blasted the teachers' and administrators' unions for
being "the reason our schools are failing."
Perry's Principles will highlight solutions to bullying, the achievement gap
and improving graduation rates (link talking about out an the Chicago killings). This exciting series will be interactive,
welcoming viewers from all over the world to post questions and
solutions on CNN.com.
Since his breakout appearance on Black in America 2, (link to Black in America 2), Dr. Perry has been on an international tour where his blunt,
in your face approach has been filling venues from college campuses to
community centers (link to pictures, clips ). This weekend,
he's in Toronto where he spoke to the 7,800 attendees of the National Black Society of Engineers' international conference.
Perry's
Principles will feature people from all walks of life who have found
the solutions and questions that education needs. The series began by
featuring Link to Pharrell Williams,
one of hip hop's super producers whose sold over 75 million units world
wide. Dr. Perry pressed the rapper about how he connects to young
people, highlighting Perry's 1st principle, "Everybody should care
about education, because everyone has something to contribute."(Link
clip from last Thursday's, Kyle Anderson and Sean P. Diddy Combs).
Dr. Perry is an Essence education contributor and author of 4 books. His fifth will be published by Crown in 2011.
What
makes Perry's Principles so relevant is that Dr. Perry remains a full
time principle. As founder and principle of one of America's most
successful high schools, he remains on the front lines, fighting the
fights that he features every Thursday night on CNN's AC360.
