In bringing forth life from the earth, we sow the seeds of hope and opportunity. When we build gardens together, we build community together; when we feed each other, we feed ourselves; with our hands in the soil together, we are all connected.

Greetings!

Every time it has snowed this winter, two things have come to my mind. The first, is how challenging bad weather is for people who are living on the edge. Transportation costs, high utility bills and the expense of the cold and flu season make it necessary to stretch already tight food budgets even further. All of us here at The Volunteer Center are so very appreciative of the time, energy and money all of you have given to make it possible for us to help people through the Grant County Community Food Pantry and the Alimento para el Nino backpack program.

The second thing I think about is how wonderful all of this moisture is and the fabulous potential of this year's growing season. In the coming months you will see much more about our involvement in and support of, community gardens, farmer's markets, local growers and our Grow A Row To Share produce sharing and gleaning program.
