Last week we officially opened Mann for Congress
headquarters! Our highly visible offices
in downtown Salina at 119 West Iron Avenue in the United Building are already
buzzing with volunteers. People from all
over the district are welcome to come inside, get warm, get involved, discuss
issues of concern, and take a bumper sticker home on their way out. We are extremely excited to have such a great
space to welcome volunteers and voters to our campaign. You can check out pictures of our new office here and you can also
sign up to volunteer!
In addition to opening our offices, it was great being on
the campaign trail last week! I was in Reno, Ellis, Marshall,
and Saline counties meeting with scores of business and civic leaders. I enjoyed attending annual Chamber of
Commerce meetings in Hutchinson, Hays, and Salina. While in Marysville, I met with many people,
was updated on the new hospital, and had several good discussions about the
continued increase in agricultural land values.
The resounding theme from my meetings throughout the state is that
Kansans are tremendously concerned about the lack of fiscal restraint in Washington and are
relieved that the proposed health care legislation has stalled.
Another significant issue I hear from voters is jobs. As reported in January,
national unemployment is around 15 million, which equates to almost 10%. The answer to this problem? Less government to let the market recover and
create jobs. Jobs are created on Main
Street by business owners, not career politicians in Washington. The answer is to get government out of our
pockets, decrease bureaucratic red tape, and provide tax incentives for private
business growth. I will use my years of
working with hundreds of Kansas companies to do all I can to get businesses
what they need and government out of growth's way.
Capitalism is at its best with free-market competition, free
of red tape and ever expanding regulatory schemes. This common sense approach
can be applied to more than just business; it can also be applied to the Health
Care debate. In every area, competition
in a free-market society is the prescription that Kansans are looking for.
It is obvious that the current system is broken and
flawed. I will use my years of business
and agricultural experience to help the Big First and our country get moving in
the right direction.
But, I must have your help.
Your generous donation of $10, $20, $50, or $100 will be used to send
our conservative, Kansas values to Washington. Please contribute by clicking here. I have deep roots in Kansas, not politics.
The last thing we need at this point is more politicians in Washington trying to
fix our problems.
As always, may God bless our troops, our country, and our
great state.
