(SALINA, KS) - Tracey Mann, candidate for Congress in the 1st District, announced today that Salina Farmer and agriculture leader Justin Knopf will be serving his campaign as the Campaign Treasurer.
"The first district covers a large geographical area, is comprised of communities and rural towns, has a deep-seeded heritage in agriculture, and is made special by people and families who still believe in the values our nation was founded upon. We are so blessed to have some of the best educators, farmers, entrepreneurs, aviators, and leaders in America, right here at home. One of those leaders, Justin Knopf of Salina, I am proud to announce has agreed to be my campaign treasurer," said Mann.
Knopf, a 5th generation Kansan, has been recognized by many in the Big First as a leader in agriculture. In 2006, Knopf testified in front of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee at the request of Congressman Jerry Moran as they were preparing to draft our current Farm Bill.
"I couldn't be more excited to support Tracey's campaign to be our next Congressman. He has the agricultural roots and embodies the values, common sense, work ethic, and heritage that Kansans in the first district have come to expect out of their Congressman," said Knopf.
Knopf farms with his father and brother on their family farm where Justin was raised in Eastern Saline County. Together the family raises wheat, alfalfa, soybeans, grain sorghum, and corn. Knopf and his wife Lindsey live in Salina with their one-year-old daughter, Charlotte.
Knopf serves on several boards and committees including the Board of Directors for the Saline County Farm Bureau Association, and Chair of the Kansas Farm Bureau Natural and Environmental Resources state committee. He is an elected executive board member for the Central Kansas Extension District. He is also a member of the Kansas Association of Wheat Growers and currently serves on the Southeast of Saline FFA Advisory Committee.
Knopf graduated from Kansas State University in 2000 with a degree in Agronomy. He keeps close ties to K-State as a member of the Advisory Council for the Department of Agronomy, and serves as the K-State College of Agriculture "Ag-Backer" for Saline and Ellsworth counties.
"It is important to have someone representing us in Washington who not only understands and fits our culture, but also has both the passion to carry our message and the exceptional leadership ability it takes to effectively convey it. Tracey Mann is our candidate," said Knopf.
