Renowned fine art photographer Alan S. Maltz was recently honored by the SPCA Wildlife Care Center (WCC) with its inaugural VISION Award. The Award was created especially for Maltz to acknowledge his contributions to the Center and his vision as a photographer and artist.

Last Flight to ParadiseMaltz received the award on Saturday, Jan. 24 at WCC's 40th Anniversary Gala, the organization's largest and most important fundraising event of the year, with more than 200 guests in attendance at the Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel.

Coleen Darni-Sotir of Shades of Light Gallery on Las Olas designed the event as organic and natural, yet glamorous. Maltz's work was the heart of the decor with 13 canvases of various sizes decorating the ballroom, including one extreme-size mural of 7.5' x 5'.

"Alan's work is so stunning," Darni-Sotir said. "There is a real strength in his photos. I wanted to incorporate his work into this year's theme to include the 'green' and environmental aspect."

Maltz's artwork is featured in public venues such as Bank of America Tower at International Place in Miami; Carter Center in Atlanta; The Ritz-Carlton in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; Canson in Caen, France; and Southwest Florida International Airport in Ft. Myers.
