Greetings!, Despite the heat, our big power outage (we were out for 5 days) and lack of rain, my vegetable garden is doing great. Every day, I'm either canning or freezing something and taking bags of produce to the Studio to share with others. The size of some of the tomatoes is a little over the top. This one is about half the size of my head! There's lots to share with you this month, including a new video tip; a brand new fabric collection, quilt kits and free patterns; website news; and, as always, the latest free block pattern for Shenandoah Baskets. If you think you'd like to take a class with me, I've also scheduled some fun classes over some weekend dates this fall. The details are below. One last thing: I have a question for you this month on your recent fabric buying habits. Please take a moment to answer our one-question poll -- it will help us be the best resource possible for quilters like yourself. Tell Us About Your Fabric Buying

New Monochrome Fabric Collection, Quilt & More
| My latest fabric collection is now available online at jinnybeyer.com, in our shop, and at independent quilt shops around the world.
Monochrome includes red-and-white, blue-and-white, and black-and-white prints, along with four coordinating solid fabrics. By varying the scale of the prints, each of the colorways shade light to dark, giving you lots of design options.
The fabrics are available by the yard and in fat quarter bundles. I designed two projects featuring the fabrics from the collection. The patterns are free downloads and kits are available, too. Brewster's Choice is a classic kaleidoscope design. The quilt is made from one basic block that's easy to sew. Two variations of the block are alternated to create that wonderful interlocking effect. The kits are available in two sizes and all three colorways. Brewster's Choice Kit & Free PatternThe Kaleidoscope Table Runner uses the same basic block, but the whole runner is edged with a narrow border print stripe for a really elegant finish. Video Tip: Choosing Quilt Colors with the Portable Palette
| Would you like to see one of my secrets for choosing fabrics for my quilts?
I've put together a video showing you how I use my Portable Palette design tool. You'll see how easy it is to learn to shade from one color to the next, and how you can use the tool to help you choose colors to work with a particular color scheme, focus fabric or inspiration photo.
To celebrate the new video demo, the Portable Palette is on sale through August 14 at 20% off. Regularly, $60, it's just $48 during the sale.
