The Connection

Plan to join us this Palm Sunday as we consider the "Stations of the Cross"

For the past few years we have reminded ourselves of Jesus' love by considering the events leading up to the Cross. This service is particularly meaningful as we prepare to celebrate the joy and hope of His resurrection at Easter. Come with an attitude of reverence and gratitude and plan to join our church family as we worship and as we share in Jesus' Communion meal.

Other special announcements:
  • No Breakfast will be served on Palm Sunday, worship will begin at 11:00 with no prelude. Readers and Musicians/Vocals are asked to arrive by 10:30.
  • Easter Sunday we will serve an extra-special breakfast, starting at 9:45 and for the kids we will be hosting an Easter egg hunt following morning service.

Team Plans

Besides providing medical and dental services, the team will be constructing a toilet in an outlying area where there are no such facilities and conducting a vacation Bible school. The team will fly to Manila, spend one night there and fly on to Davao City, where folks from Mati will meet us. Travel by van to Mati is between two and three hours. Housing will be in hotels near the Agape Ministries compound. Meals will be at the Agape compound with the residents. On the way home after nine days in Mati, we will spend two nights with a free day in Manila. We will spend some time with Pastor Roy Rocha of our Manila congregation.

Team members are Dr. Joe Iriana, Pat Iriana, Denny Denham, Christina Hartwick, Jeff Walsh, Justin Nash, Kay Gomez, Pat Forbes, Dr. Raymond Hsu, Hannah Hsu and Clio Thomas.

Please pray for all the team members, for good health and safety. Pray for all of the final preparations that are underway for the trip. Pray for the people and agencies we will be working with in the Philippines, that God can accomplish all that he desires.

The Agape Ministries in Mati encompass an orphanage, a technical college and an Agape House. We will be sharing in the life of this Christian community. In addition, we will be interacting with government officials, including the governor, as well as with the local hospital. It will be a rich experience of servant-hood for all participants.

From John Middlewood...
Prayer needs in Thailand:

Please continue your prayers for us here. Bee and Bpun returned yesterday from a 4 day seminar in how to teach younger children. They went, along with 6 teens from other churches we work with. The eight girls will be planning and conducting VBS here at the Christian Mission on April 4-6. They will then take the program to three other churches we work with.
We are planning on 40-50 elementary age student to participate in the program.

I continue to teach English 6-8 hours a day now that school is closed down. We currently have about 30 students in 4 different groups. About half are University students majoring in English and wanting to be teachers. The other half is made up of high school students from grades 7-12. Please keep me and them in your prayers.

Thank you and God Bless, John and Maeo
