New Adult Sunday School Class to Begin January 8

An adult Sunday School class begins on January 8 with Kay Gomez as the teacher. The class is titled "Understanding Poverty."

The class is built on the format of a book titled:        A Framework For Understanding Poverty.

For people who are interested in Christian ministry to people in this day and age it is imperative to understand the cultures which surround the poor, the middle class, and the affluent. Sunday class times will be at 10 am in the club house.

Congregational Meal - January 15

The Hospitality team will be providing a Pasta Bar lunch coinciding with the Annual Meeting.  A variety of sauces will be available to choose from - including options for our vegetarian friends.  Please bring a dessert to share.

Library News - FREE BOOKS!

Our shelves were groaning and tightly packed so we decided to remove some of the older, but still good, books and have made them available to you choose from at the back of the church.  Please help yourselves and feel free to share with a friend.

Recycle Those Old Cell Phones!

West Valley Church is linking up with Hope Phones, an agency that recycles cell phones for use in eleven developing countries around the world.  These phones help provide:
      • Emergency Healthcare
      • Treatment Support
      • Drug Dosage Information
      • Clinic Referrals
Clean out your dresser drawers and place your old phones in the receptacle on the table in the foyer.  The phones will be shipped to "Hope Phones," and you will have helped someone on the other side of the world!

Rec Center Update

The team has made tremendous progress on the renovation of the rec center - including, but not limited to: a total gutting of the kitchen and bath, canned lighting throughout, walls knocked down, chimney blocks  knocked out, new walls erected, heating, electrical and plumbing improvements  - and there is more to come!   We are taking pictures as the project progresses and expect to wow you with the before and after shots!
Kudos to the team! And congratulations to Dan Pleasants on his new job with Whole Foods - we're going to miss you on the project Dan - you were such an asset and we truly appreciated your hard work!

One Minute Meditation

Prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

When Jesus came the first time, he came to reveal God (John 1:18). As wonderful, powerful, and gracious as he was in his earthly ministry, it did not fully reveal Jesus our Lord. Our hope is tied to his return. When he comes this time, he won't come to reveal God, but to reveal himself -- the conquering Lord, the Rider on the white horse. Every knee will bow. And we will see him as he really and fully is, Immanuel in power and grace. With this as our hope, we can be ready for active service to our king as people who live their lives under his leadership and control.

O Almighty God, I long for the day when I get to see Jesus face to face coming with the angels in power. Until that time, fasten my heart in hope to the glory Jesus will share with me on that day, and please empower me to live as one who knows that victory is mine in Jesus. Jesus, through your powerful name I pray.  Amen.
