UPDATE ON LINDSAY BECK @ BICS
If you're not on Facebook you probably aren't aware of how well Lindsay Beck is getting along at Berkshire Institute for Christian Studies (BICS).
In one of her recent posts she had this to say:
"Wow. I'm looking at these last two months and I'm wondering how I got here. I'm absolutely charmed by every aspect of my life right now. Truly blessed. Thank you to everyone who got me here and to those taking this journey with me. Thank you for all of your blessings, God. I'll go to bed with another smile on my face."
In addition to regular classes, Lindsay has been involved with singing in the BICS choir, helping the church's middle school program, and leading a devotional before the entire student body. Plus she has a regular job at J. Crew to help with her living expense!
The only reason Lindsay has been able to go to BICS is because of the support of her church family here at WVCC. So far, most of her school expenses have been paid for by church members and our local conference. The conference president, Rev. Rick Qualls, stated that, in this unique situation, it was truly a blessing for God's people to be able to help Lindsay in her spiritual journey.
If you would like to support Lindsay in this opportunity please speak with WVCC Treasurer Pat Hogan, or Pastor Keith. Apart from the financial aid of God's people, Lindsay has no means to continue her studies. In barely six months her time at BICS will be completed, but already the LORD has done great things in her life!

This is the time of year when food bank activity picks up in earnest. The weather is changing, holidays are around the corner and families are struggling mightily. Canned soups, meats, vegetables will always be needed and that Mac & Cheese is always a great donation for families with kids. What Would You Like For Me To Do For You?
In the 18th chapter of Luke's Gospel there is a
wonderful story. Jesus was travelling from Jericho to Jerusalem and comes across a blind beggar named Bartemaus. He cried out to the Lord, "Lord, have mercy on me!"
When Jesus hears him, He turns and says, "What would you like for me to do for you?"
Bartemaus responds, "Oh, I'd like to see."
Jesus touches him and says, "Go, your faith has made you whole." He got up and began to leap for joy. He began to see and all the people rejoiced with him.
Some time ago, I was talking with a person who for many years had been a Christian. I said, "What was it like when you made your first commitment to Jesus?" She said, "It was like I began to see the flowers and hear music for the first time. I began to see things in life I had never seen before. She began to see and hear in a new way.
I remember a night in June over sixty years ago. My life had been out of whack, and I was unhappy. I was unhappy with myself and with others. That is usually the case when you are unhappy with yourself, you are unhappy with everyone else, too. You can't stand yourself and you can't stand others. Isn't that what happens? Usually when we are out of sorts with other people the problem is not with them at all. Whenever we
begin to get irritated with others we'd better quit looking at them and start looking at ourselves. That is where the problem is.
That is the way I was, and a senior in high school. Life was not making much sense. One night a guy by the name of Corbin Kaiser was preaching at our church, and I went to the meeting. To make a long story short, I went to the altar that night and renewed my commitment to Jesus. I stayed around at the church talking with friends so long that I missed the last bus home. It was a five mile walk along the road by the Elk River. It was dark, but the moon was shining. Being June, the honeysuckle vines were in full blossom. I had smelled honeysuckle for years.....but never like that before. Sitting here now, sixty years later, I can still smell that fragrance. It is as fresh today as it was then!! What do we want the Lord to do for us? That is the question Jesus raised with Bartemaus. What do we really want? What will make life right and new and fresh? What about those broken dreams that are as shattered glass? In what ways are we blind and need the touch of Jesus so we see as He sees? Submit life to Him. Submit it in obedience, to follow Him. Let's give up everything that separates us from Him, that separates us from His way of life, whatever that may be. Jesus is still saying, "What do you want me to do for you?" Only you can answer that!! God bless you. He loves you, and so do I. In Jesus, Pastor Clio |

One Minute Meditations

Life is composed of astronomical choices. These choices have consequences. The greatest of choices, of course, is whether to follow God or not. His way is the one with the most benefits! David in his "Saws" mentions some of these: "God forgives your sins--every one. He heals your diseases--every one. He crowns you with love and mercy--a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness--beauty eternal. He renews your youth--you're always young in His presence."
David, early on, decided to follow God: "My choice is you, God, first and only. And now I find I'm your choice. Keep me safe, O God. I've run for dear life to you. I say to God, 'Be my Lord!' Without you nothing makes sense. I'm happy from the inside out, and from the outside in. I'm in the very presence of God--Oh, how refreshing it is! I nearly missed dwelling in His presence. I was looking the other way, looking up to the people at the top, envying the wicked who have made it, who have nothing to worry about, not a care in the whole wide world. Then I made the Lord God my home. Now I dwell in His presence. He has taken my hand. He wisely and tenderly leads me, and then He blesses me." Dear God, Let me shout your name with a praising song! Let me tell of your goodness in a prayer of thanks.
