One-Minute Meditations
MeditationThe Christian life is really a walk with God. We walk in faith and he directs our steps-one at a time, while we learn from Him. David knew about this and wrote about it:

"The wise man walks in step with God, his path blazed by God; he's happy. If he stumbles, he's not down for long; God has a grip on his hand."

You are blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. You are blessed when you follow his directions. You walk straight along the road he set-you don't go off on your own. Oh, that my steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set. Then I'd never have any regrets in comparing my life with your counsel. I thank you for speaking straight from your heart; I learn the pattern of your righteous ways. I'm going to do what you tell me; don't ever walk off and leave me.

God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay on course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me-my whole life one long, obedient response. Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway! Give me a bent for your words of wisdom, and not for piling up loot. Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets, invigorate me on the pilgrim way. Affirm your promises to me-promises made to all who fear you. Deflect the harsh words of my critics-but what you say is always so good. See how hungry I am for your counsel; Preserve my life through your righteous ways! Let your love, God, shape my life.
Library Corner
Two donated books are now out. One is Barbara Johnson's experience with brain cancer surgery and treatment. She is the funny lady of the Women of Faith Ministries and finds joy in some of the terrible times in her life. PLANT A GERANIUM IN YOUR CRANIUM is the title of this encouraging and sometimes funny story.  T.J. Jakes gives a heart warming tribute to women and mother's in MAMA MADE THE DIFFERENCE.

A group of books dealing with the Advent Christian Church, beliefs and doctrine have been pulled out for use. Two of the newer ones of the group are GOD'S STRANGE WORK by David Rowe who has thoroughly researched the life of William Miller, founder of our denomination. N.T. Wright's SURPRISED BY HOPE parallels many of the beliefs of our founding fathers. If you are curious about what our denomination is about, here are answers. There is also history of our beginnings and development up to this present time in which we worship together here at West Valley. This is an invitation to do a little mind stretching!

Women's Ministry Spring Retreat
May 2011
Planning has begun for the Spring Retreat. It will be the weekend after Mother's Day this year. We will not be going to Oak Harbor as in the past and the cost will be a little more this year. I am trying to get the word out so we can save our money and find ways to get the ladies to this retreat. It has been a real blessing in my life and would encourage you to consider this retreat. The cost this year will be approximately $90.00. If you have questions come see me.
