Interested in Baptism or Church Membership?
If you have any interest in being baptized, or in joining West Valley Community Church, please let Pastor Keith or Pastor Brandon know. If anyone needs to be baptized, we will have a baptismal service the first Sunday in January. For those interested in becoming members of our congregation, a membership class will be scheduled whenever it is most convenient. Candidates for membership must be approved by the CLT, which is scheduled to meet January 10. Any new member wishing to participate in the annual business meeting (January 30) needs to be approved at this meeting. For more information contact Pastor Keith: keith@acgc.us; 253-653-1915.

One-Minute Meditations
We are living in a technological age geared to spread. We are always in a hurry.During 2011, let's resolve to slow down and spend more time with God in His word and in our prayer time. Here is some advice from the "Saws* of David:" - Step out of the traffic. Take a long, loving look at your high God, Who is above politics, above everything.
- Praise God often. Don't forget a single blessing! From head to toe, bless His holy name. He is our refuge and strength.
- Thank God often. Pray to Him by name. Tell everyone you meet what He has done.
- Listen as He speaks. Don't trun a deaf ear. He will teach you how to live wisely and well!
- Confess your sins to God. He knows every sin you have committed. Your life is an open book bfore Him. He will forgive you and answer in love. He will show His great mercy - full force!"
Dear God, Help me to know you better at the end of 2011 because I will have spent more time in Your presence. I love you! Amen. * "Saws" means sayings

| "Critter" Update
The Stafford team saw many smiles as stuffed animals were given to each resident who attended church on Christmas Sunday. Thank you to everyone who donated a cute critter! There were even some animals left over. Those were taken, along with child-sized quilts that the quilting group had made, and given to the kids at Villa Capri for Christmas. Thank you, too, for all the calendars that have been donated so far. Stafford could still use additional ones. If you have more you would like to donate, please give them to either Jody or Kathleen. Thanks so much!

Upcoming Events for Women's Ministry January 15th "Women Together" Kick off We are going to have once a month "Women Together" group starting in January: a women's breakfast prayer group every 3rd Saturday from January through May. We will meet at the church fellowship hall for a light breakfast, devotions, words of testimonies and prayer with the focus being on our Missionaries around the world. Mark your calendars and come join us January 15 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.
May 2011 Planning has begun for the Spring Retreat. It will be the weekend after Mother's Day this year. We will not be going to Oak Harbor as in the past and the cost will be a little more this year. I am trying to get the word out so we can save our money and find ways to get the ladies to this retreat. It has been a real blessing in my life and would encourage you to consider this retreat. The cost this year will be approximately $90.00. If you have questions come see me.

What Is the Jubilee Fund?
West Valley Community Church receives numerous requests for financial assistance - on average two or three each week. Even if it were possible, it simply isn't wise for any church to give money to everyone that requests it. However, there are times when members of our own congregation face hardship and we need to respond. The Jubilee Fund was established so that when a church family is hit by financial crisis, we can help. Typically, a member of the Jubilee Fund committee becomes aware of the need and discusses it with the other two members. The members then determine how to respond.
This committee tries to reflect the concern and compassion of the entire congregation. However, out of respect for each other's privacy, none of the details regarding the individual needs are shared with the church body. Only the three committee members and the treasurer know who has received funds and the amounts. This fund, as part of all WVCC finances, is subject to an annual independent audit. Currently the Jubilee Committee consists of Board Chairman Sandy Tonseth, Pastor Keith Wheaton and Pastor Brandon Tonseth. Support for the Jubilee Fund comes from designated gifts and occasional special collections. As we approach year's end, these resources are almost depleted. If you would like to give to this fund, please designate your gift "Jubilee Fund" as you give your check to the treasurer.

From Our Pastor Emeritus, Clio Thomas
Pastor Clio Thomas serves as "Area Director" for the Asia/Pacific mission field of the Advent Christian Denomination. One of his duties is to encourage mission workers in a variety of settings throughout Asia. The following is a weekly installment of his letter, sent literally around the world to those in his charge.Jesus Never DisappointsPaul tells us in Romans 10, "No one who believes in Him (Christ) will ever be disappointed." That is a bold claim that Paul throws out to us. It does not mean that life will never disappoint us, or that other people will not disappoint us, but that Jesus will never disappoint us! One of the great preachers of the Christian Church in England was a man by the name of Arthur John Gossip. He preached a sermon with the title "A Peep At The Last Page". In that sermon he says, "Have you ever been reading an exciting tale in which the hero seemed so hopelessly entangled that escape seemed impossible, and you yielded to the itching curiosity that could not wait, and you took a peep at the last page to find out how it all ends?" Special Christmas Offering
This year $294 came in as special Christmas offering so that will be $147 for each - Operation Nightwatch and our own Jubilee Fund. However, an additional $200 for Operation Nightwatch and $575 for the Jubilee Fund came in so the church will be sending a check for $347 to Operation Nightwatch and we have an additional $722 in the Jubilee Fund. PRAISE GOD!!!
