Teddy Bear Collecting for Stafford
Opportunities abound for giving to Stafford during this holiday season! The Stafford team plans to give a stuffed animal to each resident who attends church on Christmas Sunday. We would love to receive your new or gently used stuffed animals. They need to be brought to church by Sunday, December 12, so they can be given out the following Sunday. We're also collecting bells to use during our services in December. Calendars (the ones you receive in the mail and can't use are fine) are also needed for the health care center. Please put all donations (stuffed animals, bells, calendars) in the box at the back of the church. Thank you so much for your donations!
Communion Sunday Food Collection
As we celebrate Communion the first Sunday of each month we also encourage our members to bring something for our church food pantry. This collection of food items, paper good and personal hygiene products provides a way for us to offer immediate help for those in our congregation and those strangers who come to our door with critical needs. Please remember to bring something this Sunday to replenish items taken in need. Also, please remember this resource if you or a friend are facing some temporary setback and need some supplies. This is a great to help each other during these tough times so please give and take as your circumstances dictate!
What Is the Jubilee Fund?
West Valley Community Church receives numerous requests for financial assistance - on average two or three each week. Even if it were possible, it simply isn't wise for any church to give money to everyone that requests it. However, there are times when members of our own congregation face hardship and we need to respond. The Jubilee Fund was established so that when a church family is hit by financial crisis, we can help. Typically, a member of the Jubilee Fund committee becomes aware of the need and discusses it with the other two members. The members then determine how to respond.

This committee tries to reflect the concern and compassion of the entire congregation. However, out of respect for each other's privacy, none of the details regarding the individual needs are shared with the church body. Only the three committee members and the treasurer know who has received funds and the amounts.  This fund, as part of all WVCC finances, is subject to an annual independent audit. Currently the Jubilee Committee consists of Board Chairman Sandy Tonseth, Pastor Keith Wheaton and Pastor Brandon Tonseth. Support for the Jubilee Fund comes from designated gifts and occasional special collections. As we approach year's end, these resources are almost depleted. If you would like to give to this fund, please designate your gift "Jubilee Fund" as you give your check to the treasurer.

One-Minute Meditation Meditation

What a wonderful world we live in!

To think that God created it just for us - the creatures He created to love and serve Him! In "the Saws* of David" we read:

"What a wildly wonderful world, God.

You made it all, with Wisdom at your side.

You made earth overflow with your wonderful creations.

You drenched the earth in your affectionate satisfaction.

Everything you made is sound inside and out.

You smiled on your creation."

*"Saws" means sayings.

Cookie Bake TOMORROW
TOMORROW is the 1st annual Cookie Bake at the Church. The bake starts is 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Everyone can bring 1-2 of your favorite recipes, extra bowls, measuring cups, spoons, baking sheets, and the supplies to make your cookies. We will put these together and bake as many as we can. These cookies are going to be used as gifts throughout the month of December. We will be sharing these cookies with the staff at Stafford, shut ins and anyone else you think would like a gift of cookies. I would like to get a sign up sheet of how many will be joining us on Saturday Dec 4. Please let me know if you are planning on being at the cookie bake. If you can't afford to buy the supplies for making cookies, let me know. I am putting together supplies and recipes for those who can't afford the supplies. If you have questions please contact Pami Hanson at 206-406-5115 or at my e-mail pumi7864@yahoo.com. Thanks

January 15th "Women Together" Kick off
We are going to have once a month "Women Together" group starting in January: a women's breakfast prayer group every 3rd Saturday from January through May. We will meet at the church fellowship hall for a light breakfast, devotions, words of testimonies and prayer with the focus being on our Missionaries around the world. Mark your calendars and come join us January 15 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

May 2011
Planning has begun for the Spring Retreat. It will be the weekend after Mother's Day this year. We will not be going to Oak Harbor as in the past and the cost will be a little more this year. I am trying to get the word out so we can save our money and find ways to get the ladies to this retreat. It has been a real blessing in my life and would encourage you to consider this retreat. The cost this year will be approximately $90.00. If you have questions come see me.
