Work Day Tomorrow
Please join us at the church
at 9:00 as we work together on some much-needed maintenance of our building. We
have a variety of "service opportunities" for you, including touch
up painting, general cleaning , landscaping, and maybe even some light
carpentry. Lunch will be provided and our work will conclude at 3:00, leaving
plenty of time to enjoy the rest of our weekend. We'll have fun and we'll
get things done!

This Weekend We Celebrate Women's Ministry Sunday
Join us Sunday at 11:00 for a special worship service featuring
a variety of women's ministries here in our church. The entire service
will be led by our ladies, who will share about their different ministries and
their personal testimonies. You will be surprised and proud when you hear the
many different ways women in our church are involved in serving the LORD.

Family Hour Starts Sunday
After an extended hiatus, we
are resuming our Sunday morning family time. The morning's activities
begins with breakfast, cooked and served by the youth at 9:45. At 10:15 we will
begin our lesson/activity time that includes the entire family. For the next
several weeks we are focusing on Noah, so come prepared to drown in a flood of Biblical
knowledge and great activities! ...well,... maybe not "drown,"
but it should be fun anyway. *Special Reminder* Two of our core values
are "Relationships are nurtured" and "Young Families and youth
are ministered to." These are the goals of our Sunday family hour
activities so please help us meet these goals by joining in - we need
everyone involved, including you!

Sock It to Homelessness
Homeless
people are on their feet all day, and
rarely have more than one pair of socks - and, those are often wet.
Again this year West Valley will be supporting Operation Nightwatch by
collecting socks for the homeless. Please bring pairs of white athletic
socks and place them in the collection box
in the back of the church. Bring them in as soon as possible, but we
will
collect through Sunday, October 10. |

Greetings,
It has been some
time since the last update, so let me bring you up to speed...

and approved.
Building plans
have been approved by the City, they await our plan for dealing with parking.

Jonas concerning the partnership between SWCF and Youth Dynamics. This
continues to be a huge answer to prayer for SWCF. We are looking forward to
taking a few days retreat time with both leadership teams, once Ryan and
Elizabeth get transferred here.
...spent some
time with Jim Cannon, who will be leaving for South Africa with his family
soon. They are long time residents of SW and appreciate their connection with
SWCF.

...expedite the
parking lot proposal details

Invest in Our Youth Recently, Pastor Brandon was chosen by ACGC to serve on the national
student leadership commission. One of his new responsibilities involves meeting
with other AC youth leaders from across the US. In November this board will
meet in conjunction with the national youth workers convention, held in
Nashville, TN. While many of Brandon's expenses will be covered by ACGC, not
all are. Also, since this convention provides excellent training for lay youth
leaders, West Valley will benefit greatly by sending another youth worker to
accompany Brandon at this event. The CLT has voted to encourage Brandon to
attend the convention with his wife, Becca, who works closely with him in youth
ministry. Since this is an expense not directly covered by our budget, we are
asking members to help support this endeavor by giving designated
contributions. Both the Western Regional AC Association and the Western
Washington and British Colombia Conference will also be asked to help cover the
costs associated with this trip. If you would like to "Invest in Our Youth
(workers!)" in this manner, please designate any contributions as for
"National Youth Workers Convention."

Donations for Mati, Philippines We are planning to ship a large box of clothes
to Mati, Philippines by the end of September. The folks there need summer
clothes for children, teens, and young adults. (Women/Men's size small or
medium would be fine.) Please leave your donations at West Valley or call Tom & Nelda if you need
us to pick up your items (206 437-5535). Thank you on behalf of Agape
Ministries.

Is there a girl in our church who
needs a bike or would like one? This is a Huffy girl's model (18-20") with
straight handlebars 10+ speed (I think). Bike may need minor repairs and
the seat has small rip but I am not using the bike and needs to go to a home
where it can get used! Call Pami at (206) 406-5115 if interested or send e-mail
to pumi7864@yahoo.com.
Listing items in the Classifieds
If you'd like to add items to a West Valley Classifieds list, please e-mail Tracey Coon in the church office (office@westvalleychurch.org) for items in the following categories. Please also include your contact information and a detailed description.
These items will be listed on a weekly
basis in our e-news. If you have recurring items, please keep the
church office informed on a weekly basis by the end of day Thursday.
