Hymn Service Scheduled for July 11
Mark
your calendars and come prepared to share in our hymn service on July 11.
We are
asking all members to come with their requests for hymns to sing, along
with
their testimony regarding how their selection has inspired their faith.
Please
plan to use this time to encourage your church family by sharing your
favorite
hymn's meaning for you. Ella Mae Durkee - Kenny's mom -
has agreed to play piano for us during this service and a fellowship
meal will
follow.

From Our Pastor
Emeritus, Clio Thomas
Pastor
Clio Thomas serves
as "Area Director" for the Asia/Pacific mission field of the Advent
Christian Denomination. One of his duties is to encourage mission
workers in a variety of settings throughout Asia. The following is a
weekly installment of his letter, sent literally around the world to
those in his charge. Dear Ones in Christ, Here in the Pacific
Northwest of the United States we are now coming into the season for
fresh fruit. A number of varieties of berries are already ripening, as
are some tree fruit. When it comes to food it doesn't get much
better than sinking one's teeth into freshly picked
raspberries and strawberries; or eating some tree ripened bing
or rainier cherries; or savoring a fresh juicy apricot. Soon
the yellow transparent apples will be ripe. I could go on, but I would
just make you more hungry. As I have been
privileged to visit many countries around the world I have enjoyed other
fruit.....mangos, mangosteen, papaya, grapes, persimmons, oranges, pineapple,
and several varieties of bananas; just to name a few. Our Lord Jesus talked
about our bearing a different kind of fruit. In John 15 He says
He is the vine and we are the branches. There He says that our reason for
existence is to bear fruit. In Matthew 7 He says that both false and
good prophets can be recognized by their fruit (7:16-20). The Apostle
Paul writes in Galatians 5 about the wonderful fruit of the Spirit.
If we look at Jesus' teaching about fruit-bearing alongside Paul's teaching we
readily see how natural and beautiful good fruit really is. The list of
the nine fruit of the Spirit in Galatians is a list that makes one want to say,
"WOW, each one of those is so sweet. I can almost taste them." Jesus obviously is a
lover of good fruit. How sweet is the fruit that He is
getting from your tree, and from mine? God bless you! Love in Him, Pastor Clio

Flamingo Invasion! Young Lifer's made good on their threats to
infest peace-loving church members who refused to buy "Flock Insurance."
The Wheaton family was recently targeted with a malicious midnight
attack of the
pink menaces, convincing them to pay the fees necessary for bird
removal. So
far, the flamingos remain, terrorizing the Wheaton children and marring
the
otherwise picturesque neighborhood. Please pray for our youth who are
attending
Young Life Camp this week, and maybe pray for the Wheatons as well!

Fellowship Meal, July 11 Our next fellowship meal is July 11. So come to the beach with us and have a BBQ! Contact either Kathy Durkee or Kathy Wheaton for the sign up list on salads and desserts.
