Sunday Is Mother's Day!
Sunday is Mother's Day, and we are celebrating by having a special brunch to honor all our moms. Brunch will begin at 10:00 and include great food and a relaxed time of fellowship. Our normal family hour lesson will return next Sunday. Also this Sunday we are going to have special treat, as Pastor Clio shares about the work his team did in the Philippines, including some photos of Tom and Nelda Lobb's new home! Please come early and join us for brunch and worship - your mom would approve!
Words and the Word

Pastor Clio Thomas serves as "Area Director" for the Asia/Pacific mission field of the Advent Christian Denomination. One of his duties is to encourage mission workers in a variety of settings throughout Asia. The following is a weekly installment of his letter, sent literally around the world to those in his charge.

Dear Ones in Christ,

I find it more than interesting that in the beginning of all things God spoke and the universes came into being.  The same God Who spoke at creation, we are told in Colossians, was none other than Jesus.  Paul says, "By him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him." (Col. 1:16)  The Gospel of John tells us, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:1,3,4)

The astounding thing is that this same Word became flesh.  The Word that spoke, and was spoken in the beginning, became flesh and came to live in our world. (John 1:14)  The Word (Jesus) came here to live and die to redeem us.  Beyond that He was resurrected from the dead to give us life and hope, and is coming again to reclaim all of creation.  Let all of this run through your head for a while and I trust you will shout for joy.  Everyday we are almost overcome with words, words, and more words.  But, there is only one Word......Jesus!

God bless you!!

In His great love,

Pastor Clio
Housing Needed
Frosty Worcester is in need of permanent housing, preferably in our area. A room or small apartment would be ideal. She can afford $350 a month, including utilities. If you can help please call her at 253-347-2999.

Children's Church
Did you know that this past Sunday we had 22 kids in Children's Church? Please pray for our dedicated and creative (and a little crazy!) children's church workers, who do such a great job that the kids keep coming back for more!

The Game Is On!
Mark your calendars for June 27, when representatives of the "southern district" of WWBC (a.k.a. members of West Valley Community Church and a few others from Seattle) travel to Bellingham to play softball against members of the "northern district." We will leave from West Valley directly following the morning worship service. All men are encouraged to join us - especially those who can hit or even catch a softball. Please contact Pastor Brandon for more information.

Rhubarb Crisp Recipe
Several people asked for the recipe for the rhubarb crisp at the last potluck. Here it is.

Fill an 8 by 8 baking dish with fresh, washed, diced rhubarb. Mix 3/4 cup sugar with 2 heaping tbsp. flour. Mix well and distribute evenly over the rhubarb.

Top with 1/2 cup butter, 1 cup flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 2/3 cup white sugar, 1/4 tsp. salt. Mix until crumbly and cover first mixture. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

This will work for apple crisp but with less sugar on bottom layer.
