as we hold a special service following
our Lord's footsteps to the Cross. Starting at 11:00, the service will
feature music, Scripture and comments by key figures who were with Jesus
in the
hours leading to His crucifixion. The hour will conclude with a
celebration of
Holy Communion. Please come prepared to focus your heart and mind on
this

Join Us Easter Sunday!
Come Easter Sunday
and bring your family! This year we encourage
you to bring guests to our Easter Sunday celebration. A special brunch
will be
prepared and served by our hospitality committee and an egg-hunt will be
offered for the children. Brunch begins at 10:00. Our 11:00 service will
be "family
friendly" and visitors will be welcome. This is a great opportunity for
you to introduce your unchurched friends or family to West Valley!

Letter from Eric Belvin Last summer West
Valley Community Church was blessed to have Eric Belvin serve as our
worship
intern. Not only is Eric a gifted musician, but we discovered he is also
a
great person. Recently he was given the opportunity to engage in an
overseas
ministry. He sent the following letter to explain this ministry and to
ask
for support. The Catalyst Leadership Team voted to give Eric a monetary
gift
from the church and to publish his letter so that individuals in the
congregation could also support Eric and this ministry.

Pictured is Eric at
his
recital, with the support of the talented West Valley Vocal Band.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Friends,
Hello! My name is Eric Belvin. I am a
senior at California Baptist University; I'm majoring in Music
with emphases in both Piano Performance and Composition. In addition to
my
regular classes, I accompany the University Choir and Orchestra and a
small
singing group sent by the university to churches all over southern
California
every other week. Overall, life at CBU is really great. I love it here!
God is
teaching me so much; I am truly blessed to be here.
This summer, I am serving on an
International Service Projects (ISP) team at CBU. My team of about 10
people
will be journeying to the Middle East from May 25 - June 15.
We will be doing ethnography - studying the people and their
culture to determine how best to reach them. This means my team will be
actively talking to and building
friendships with local people in order to learn more about their way of
life.
The ultimate goal is to assist long term workers by helping them
understand
better the needs of the population and how best to relate to them in
order to
be more effective. The relationships built and the research performed by
our
team within a three week period will accomplish what would take our
field
workers many years to achieve. I am really looking forward to
serving on
this team because I think it will be a life changing experience and an
opportunity for growth. I am thrilled to have this overseas opportunity
to
minister to the people who do not know Jesus.
I would like to invite you to partner
with me on this ministry trip. I am hoping many of you will commit to
being our
prayer partners, whom we seriously value as a vital part of our ministry
team.
We need people to pray for us as we prepare for this team, while we're
there, and after we return home. Please know that your prayer support
would be
a valuable gift to me and my team.
I am also praying that
some of you will be able to support this project financially. The cost
of
this trip is $3,300 per student, and I would truly appreciate any
size
gift. All donations made to California Baptist University are
tax-deductible to
the full extent allowed under the law. The University will track the
amount of
donations raised by each participant. If you would like to help me
financially,
you can make donations online:
-
Navigate to: https://dlq4.donatelinq.net/qv10/(S(a3jsaxazyz5kvpqsjqndky2s))/default.aspx?MerchantID=calbaptist&lnk=
- You may either donate without creating an account OR opt to create an
account. Creating an account allows you to view your giving history and
access any recurring payments you may have authorized.
- Fill in all information in the required fields. Be sure to select
"International Service Projects - ISP" from the drop down
menu in the Categories and Funds section.
- Please list my name in the Comments Section.
- A receipt will go to the email address you provide. You will also
receive
a receipt in the mail from our Institutional Advancement office within
6-8
weeks from the date of your donation.
Thank you for the part that you have
played in my life as I have grown, and thank you for considering to
partner
with me in this opportunity. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you
have
any questions about this ministry trip. May God bless you abundantly!
Library News
Easter books for the children are grouped
together on the kid's bookshelf. We have some good ones. Stories of the Bible being studied on Sunday mornings are grouped together on the library
table. Let's encourage our children to read and maybe accompany them to the
library.
A new donated book is available now. Twelve Extraordinary Women by John Macarthur
shows how God shaped women of the Bible and what he wants to do with you.
Looking forward for Francine Rivers and Beverly Lewis fans... New publications
have been pre-ordered and should be here by the middle of April. The third book
in the Seasons of Grace series by Lewis will arrive. Francine Rivers is
beginning a new series called Marta's Legacy. Enjoy!
