Special Announcement from Reach Out Special announcement from Reach Out, a Federal Way ministry to
homeless men. (Our church will provide meals each night during the third week
in March. Please contact Pastor Keith for details and to volunteer to provide
meals.)
March will be here SOON.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Reach Out Meal Support will be done by Federal Way United
Methodist for the first two weeks.
We are counting on meal help from West Valley Advent Christian for
the third week and from Federal
Way Church of Christ for the last full week of March. St.
Theresa's and R.O. Leadership will feed the men the last few days of the
month.
There is a Server's Guide that we've prepared to help your folks
know what is expected.
It will be helpful for WVAC to visit in the first week of March if
possible. Please let me know what night might be convenient for a few
of your folks to tour and see the process.
FWCC has the fall experience so they will not need to tour.
Can both of your churches provide milk, juices, lunch meats,
cheeses and cereal for the lunches and breakfasts? We have the bread for
sandwich making donated. We also will have all of the non food items that
are needed, plates, cups, tableware, napkins, bowls and we will have the
coffee, sugar and creamer, and mayo and mustard for sandwiches.
Thanks you for helping with homeless men of Federal Way. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email
or call.
Library News
Have you enjoyed the Scottish novels in the
library? We have another new series, The Lowlands of Scotland by Liz
Curtis Higgs. The stories intertwine the Biblical Jacob and Esau story
with characters set in 1800 century Scotland. This is another series that was
started by a donated book with the remaining books purchased for your
enjoyment.
BROTHERS is another biblically based historical novel based on the
life of Joseph. Author is Angela Hunt.
STONES INTO SCHOOLS by Greg Mortenson is the continuing story of
his contacts in Afghanistan and Pakistan where he has been responsible through
his non-profit organization, Central Asia Institute, for building 130 schools,
mostly for girls. Promoting peace with books, not bombs has given him
access to areas where others cannot go. His story is being heard in
high places and military leaders are employing some of his ideas in Afghanistan
and Pakistan. This story follows THREE CUPS OF TEA which launched
him into this remarkable work. The book helps clarify many things
about Afghan history and may answer some questions you have had about
this Central Asian area. This is a donated book.
Another Donald Miller book A MILLION MILES IN A THOUSAND
YEARS: WHAT I LEARNED WHILE EDITING MY LIFE has been added. Miller
is funny, self-deprecating and painfully honest. This book came as
a process of making a movie of his life. BLUE LIKE JAZZ (also in our
library) was his first book which spawned the idea for the
film. He is sometimes unorthodox in his activities and thoughts but he
helps you to view God in new ways.
CHILDREN'S BOOKS: A display of children's books related to
the Sunday School studies are displayed on the library table. Encourage
your children to take a look. The children's version of THREE CUPS OF TEA
is also available as well as a younger version LISTEN TO THE WIND.
Here's hoping you can find something that you like!
