Operation Nightwatch

December 30, 2009

West Valley Advent Church
3212 S 288th St
Auburn, WA 98001

Dear Friend of Nightwatch,

It's such a glorious time of year. Thank you so much for your generous help. Operation Nightwatch depends on our friends all through the year, but it is especially nice to hear from you in December. We appreciate what you have done.

There was a Christmas moment just outside of Nightwatch that I will never forget. The clients were lined up just before we opened at 9:00 pm. The topic was Christmas. One of the guys said to me, "Pastor, we need to get a Christmas tree right here!" and he stomped his foot on the little muddy patch outside our doors.

See, it is a tough time to be homeless. Our homeless friends are especially feeling the pain of their situation. They remember happier times in the past. Our friends see the people shopping downtown, and Santa in the window, and the general hubbub of the season. Being homeless in December is especially tough.

Operation Nightwatch will do everything possible to keep people warm and safe, providing basic food and shelter. And thanks to our donors and volunteers we will have some festive moments too, with extra food, presents, and decorations at the building.

Thank you for helping us get people off the street for the holidays!

May the season be especially joy-filled for you and your loved ones. Thank you for your friendship and generous hearts.

Sincerely,

Rev. Rick Reynolds
Executive Director
