Here's the Up and Up "A picture
is worth a thousand words" they say....not so much last weekend when the work
party of 5 was putting together IKEA cabinets.
Apparently none of us is fluent in Swedish pictures and although there
were no words, the pictures were foreign too!!
At last we
are at the cabinet stage which will take a couple of weeks to complete. IKEA cabinets are beautiful and well
engineered with the added bonus that a "do it yourself church" can save money
by doing the assembly. The boxes for
almost all the lower cabs are complete and now the jigsaw puzzle begins as
appliances and cabinets fit into place.
Soon you will see a huge change!!
There are
still many small jobs as well to complete so if you can spare the time, please
come to a work party and join the fun. Thank
you to all who have come to help or have sent meals and encouragement. Our goal is to be done by Thanksgiving!!
To God be
the Glory!

Youth News
Middle school youth is now meeting on Wednesday nights at 7.
It is for 6-8th grades.
New youth snack schedules have been distributed.
Adopt-A-Youth Party
We had our adopt-a-youth reveal party Sunday night. It seems
like everybody had a great time. There was a bunch of excitement when the
students realized who their adopters have been since last spring. We
played a fun game and adults were able to get a feel for what Sunday night
youth group is like. Thanks to all those who participated in the
adoptions and the party!

TJ Homecoming Football Game
TJ won its first football game of the year last Friday night and it
was great timing since the stands were full and it was our homecoming game.
The score was 53-7 as TJ beat Kent-Meridian in some of the hardest rain
we have seen this year. It was a wet night and everything went right for
TJ in this much-needed victory. Many of the students from our youth group
braved the weather and attended the game to help cheer us on. Tyler B.
and Shaun play in the band and Oscar even participated in a halftime dance in
the middle of the rain storm.

May I Introduce... Sarah Patton By Neal Tripp Sarah and
I met at a Breath of Aire rehearsal about a year ago. She loves to sing in choir and looked online
for a group to join near her home. Sarah
ended up sitting next to me. She decided that I needed all the help I could get
so she proceeded to memorize 20 songs in one month in order to perform in the
next concert!! What fun! She has a
lovely voice that matches her sweet personality and has been a wonderful
addition to our WVC worship team too.
Sarah grew
up in California
where her parents and siblings still live.
She graduated from Azusa
Pacific University
and sang in the Bel Canto choir for two years. She moved to Seattle about 11 years ago. She worked for
United Airlines for 10 years and now works for Galvin Flying Service at Boeing
Field. She lives in a private home apartment near Angle Lake
with her two cats, Jingle and Belle.
Take time
to say "hello" to Sarah!

 Operation Christmas Child
We've collected socks for the homeless, and now it's time to
collect filled shoeboxes for children around the world! To bring a
grateful smile to some child's face, pick up a brochure (and a shoe box
if you need one) on the back table at church, follow the directions,
and bring your filled shoebox back to church by Sunday, November 22.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse and is a
way of showing God's love to children everywhere. Questions? Talk to

| Villa Capri Update
"Hey Brad, let's play basketball." "What craft are we going
to make?" "Can I have seconds on snacks?" "Where were you guys last
week?"
These are some examples of questions we are
asked at Kid's Club on Thursdays at Villa Capri. After a shaky
beginning, the Kid's Club sponsored by West Valley is up and running.
There have been many turnovers in the management at Villa Capri and we
got caught in the middle of it, but hopefully this new Office Manager
will work out okay. Prayer is needed for the whole complex. There are
great people helping with this much-needed ministry. They are: Brad
Neil, Nelda Lobb, Bruce Pleasants, Sue Pleasants, and Jody Fenlason. If
you would like to spend some time with wonderful kids, please let me
know.

| West Valley Socked it to the Homeless!
Many thanks to everyone who contributed socks to
Operation Nightwatch's "Sock It To The Homeless" campaign. Our West
Valley goal was 100 pairs, and with the socks and money gifts that you
contributed, 323 pairs were collected! On Sunday the 25th, 7,320 pairs of
socks were brought into the Operation Nightwatch dispatch center by various
churches and other organizations. It's expected that socks will continue to
come in over the next few weeks which will allow ONW to reach its overall
10,000 pair goal. You have helped warm the feet of homeless folks on rainy,
snowy Seattle nights. THANK YOU!

From Our Pastor Emeritus, Clio Thomas
Pastor Clio Thomas serves as "Area Director" for the Asia/Pacific mission field of the Advent Christian Denomination. One of his duties is to encourage mission workers in a variety of settings throughout Asia. The following is a weekly installment of his letter, sent literally around the world to those in his charge.
Dear Ones in Christ,
Jesus is at the heart of the Church. He is its founder. He
is its Head. In Matthew He says, "I will build MY
church." In Ephesians 1:22,23 Paul writes, "God placed all
things under his (Jesus') feet and appointed him to be the head over everything
for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in
every way". One of the concerns I have had recently is that it is
easy to talk about Jesus being the center and head of the church. It is
another thing to so fashion one's individual life and the life of the church so
that He is indeed the center and the head. What I am getting at is
this.........defining and describing Jesus, His teaching, His redemptive
work, and who He is is not the same as letting Him live out His life
in us. All Christian belief grew originally out of relationship
with God. So it is that all of our talking about Him needs to be a
part of our relationship with Him. The end result of this and why it is
important in our discussion of the Church is that our faith in Jesus as Savior,
Lord, and Head of the Church is that it leads us directly to mission.
Jesus calls us into His body to partner with Him in changing the
world. There is nothing more exciting, exhilarating, or demanding
than knowing Jesus and seeing what He can do in and through His people.
Love in Him,
Pastor Clio
