Service in the Park
This Sunday, September 13, is our Service in Park. Our service will begin at 10 AM at Steel Creek Park site #4 (off 312th in Federal Way), and a picnic will follow. The Church will provide the chicken and drinks--the rest is potluck. Since our theme this year is Country/Western, please show your western style through either your food and/or your clothes! Games will be provided for children, and you should bring along a chair to sit in. Maps with directions to the park will be provided at the back of the church. For more information, please speak with Lori Ross. In case of rain, please meet at the church at the regular time (11 AM) and bring along your potluck food to share following the morning service. |
Women's Fall Rally
Plan to attend the conference women's Fall Rally this year! It will be held in Sumas on October 3 beginning at 9:30 and will run through lunch. If you plan to go and need transportation, please talk to Jody Fenlason. |
From Our Pastor Emeritus, Clio Thomas
I am sorry to have missed a week with you, but I was away in Alaska fishing with four brothers in Christ. Those were our guide Forrest (with whom I have fished four different years), my nephew Ron (the ACGC Executive), grand-nephew Wayne (Ron's son), and good friend Joe (the dentist on our last Philippine dental trip). We fished two days and caught our limit of halibut, and some nice salmon. What a joy to be together fishing in the midst of God's beautiful creation.
While away I was doing some thinking about the Church.........the Church Jesus founded and is building on this planet. You will remember that in Matthew 16:18 Jesus said, "I will build my Church". In the next few weeks I want to share some thoughts on the Church, because I believe that at times we have done a terrible misservice to Jesus and His hopes and dreams for us and for His Body. Jesus is not primarily interested in saving individuals for individual's sake. The Scriptures are clear that what Jesus has in mind is the building of a Church that He can use to change the world. The Church is made up of individuals, to be sure, but His purpose is to mold us into a mighty Body of transformed people who in turn will do His will and thereby change the world into which we are sent. When the emphasis is placed on the saving of individuals we often wind up with individuals who are unconnected to each other and who believe that since they are "saved" that they are ok and have no further responsibilities. The Scriptures will show that this is not what Jesus has in mind. I would like to invite you to think with me these next few weeks. Let me know what you think about the Church with Jesus as its Head. |
Villa Capri Kids Ministry
The kids have been missing us this summer! The ministry takes place every Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. Sue Pleasants is coordinating the program with wonderful help from Brad Neil, Jody Fenlason, Nelda Lobb & Bruce Pleasants. Please be in prayer as we reach out to the kids there. |
Women's Ministries
WOMEN: Let's get organized and moving! We want to join together for fun and ministry. Plan to be a part of Women's Ministries this year, so we can organize some interesting get-togethers and plan some ministries to our community. All women are invited to join. Dues are only $12 and go to support projects on all levels of Women's Ministries. Last year one project our local group supported was the giving of $150 toward Christmas gifts for children at Villa Capri. Need to Borrow Any Medical Supplies?
Have you ever wished that you had access to medical supplies just for a week or two? The following items are owned by the church and can be borrowed by any of the church families or friends. They are temporarily stored in the Hogan's garage. If you have space to store these for the church, please let us know.
